Austerity - Loot Reduction Mod
Feedback on Version 0.1.0
Ok I checked it out and was just creating a fresh new world in singleplayer.
I ran via Admin to the north to check them out. I killed multiple camps and checked out the loot.
I saw that the changes took some effect, but damn I think it could be even harsher.
In a group of 3-5 people at least 1 would drop there weapon and with the jailors around they got starmetal swords, that one still dropped instantly. The key should drop 100% I am fine with that, but the gear is so op. Same for all other normal Thralls up there. I got way to easy a lot of Coin bags and even their Armor or weapons. With the dissembly station thats also a thing which should in my opinion get nerved. Especially the weapons, because they provide an stupid amount of materials when disassembled. I think Chests and Dead Bodies can in generall be often empty and only very rarly contain some loot. I would be fine if sorcerers drop their notes more often, but for weapons, gear and raw materials I would even more drastically reduce it.
Weapon and Gear I think should maybe even be removed from the Loot-Tables (Legendary stuff obviously an exception) and raw materials like steel etc. quite rare so you cannot run around disassembling weapons and looting all the steel. So you are forced to craft and also craft your own weapons. Because if weapons are droppable, I can just repair them or they need to be so so so rare that its more likely to win the lottery, but yeah thats why I never have the need to actually craft them on my own, which sucks.😅

Sorry if I looped in my writing, I was just writing my thoughts down and I hope they give you more ideas and a feeling how you would like to actually balance it.

Thank you for you Mod and I hope this feedback helps you 🤗

Thank you for the feedback! Star metal gear is disappearing from drops in the next update (Tonight, probably). I replaced them with hardened steel and made the chance of them dropping lower, but I think it could be even harsher probably. I was unaware of how gear drops from enemies (on the devkit side), which is why enemies drop gear they are wearing often right now, but I figured it out and it will change.

I would like the weapons to be really rare so that you'd be forced to craft your gear instead. I'm still undecided on what to do with legendary weapons as they are a completely other can of worms :D

Mhhh for the Legendary Items, I sadly don't know much about where and when those are dropped, but maybe its not like 100% but for example depending on it where 15%-25% chance. But I am thinking here in the case its always at the end of a dungeon.

If a Random boss in the world is able to drop one I would go way lower. Because thats way easier farmable. Probably around 5% for example So you would have to beat that boss which is in the world around 20 times for the "guarantee".

For normal Thralls I think its good that starmetal is removed, think you want to have the fun cracking the stones and running after the meteroids. I see the point in still be able to drop a weapon, but I would let it have low durability aswell as be extremly rare. I could think of a 0.5% Chance for a weapon. I mean I slaughter quite a lot of NPC when I run around, because they triggered or I was checking the respawned loot/thralls. 200 Kills are quite quickly done 😅
But I think kinda reasonable maybe to "earn" a weapon. So with repair kits you could use the weapon or a high enough level to repair it manually but also it isnt dropped too often, that you would just disamble it. Same for Armor btw, but I dont know if its calculated for 1 drop all possibilites or every single dropable item on its own. I would be fine for Armor with the same values then maybe of 0.5% 🤔 Because for 5 Slots to drop thats basically a 2.5% Chance of a drop of any piece.

Could be even that those numbers are still too high😅 depends how it really is calculated in the game. I just blurred out some numbers I think "feeling-wise" could be okisch. But maybe this Idea how I think about percentages is giving you more/new ideas how to approach it.
I mean if after 10 enemies I already get a weapon dropped its kinda unsatisfying at least for me 😅 but maybe I am too maso/grindy in my mindset.

I am eager to see the changes of your update 👍

These are good thoughts! I pulled the gear drops way down (Around 2,5% for each gear slot, and the drop with 0,5% - 1% durability). Let me know how it feels.

Mod is cooking right now, will be uploaded very soon! (within 15 minutes!)
