Deadenator
Kyle's Review of "Deadenator" - 2/5
Difficult in every way. 2/5 stars.

I wanted to play Deadenator because it has a one-of-a-kind premise: the Survivors parachute in to destroy a radio tower being used by a doomsday cult. Unfortunately, the premise feels underused due to a lack of dialogue, graffiti, and custom assets — and this story-shaped hole is filled with difficulty.

I can enjoy a hard campaign, but Deadenator is a real ball buster. Supplies are limited, zombies are everywhere, and yet the real challenge is just finding the safe room. The path forward is heavily randomized in each map, and even the map selection is random because a full run only takes you through 4 of the 6 maps. This isn't inherently a problem, but these maps are huge, dark mazes that don't do enough to show you where to go. Add in some occasional "find the key item" hunts and it just feels like a grind.

The visuals and atmosphere are great and there are several creative set pieces, but I can only recommend this campaign to true challenge seekers.
