Submit "general error" CTD log files to Steam
This discussion is for people who have suffered the following situation.
  1. Steam has updated your Homeworld Remastered workshop content
  2. When launching a mod you instantly get a crash to desktop
  3. When you check the HwRM.log file you see an error like this:
'Data:soundscripts\SoundConfig.lua' -- parameter: <statement> expected; last token read: `Ä' at line 1 in string "" File Data:soundscripts\SoundConfig.lua

First try unsubscribing from the mod, searching for "STCR.big" in your Steam directory, deleting both copies of the mod then resubscribing to force a fresh download of the mod files. It has been suggested that the HwRM launcher is what copies the Steam downloaded files to the correct folder in the mod directory so if you notice the launcher is taking a while to get started DON'T INTERRUPT IT as you'll likely just corrupt the copying process and need to start over.

If this doesn't resolve your issue then go ahead and locate and attach the following Steam logs to a new Steam support ticket:

NOTE: C:\Program Files (x86)\ is the default installation location for Steam. If you installed Steam in another location, please navigate there instead to access the following files.
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\workshop_log.txt
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\connection_log.txt
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\download_log.txt
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\content_log.txt

If extensions are not visible, search for Text Document files named "workshop_log", "connection_log", etc. in these locations.
