My problems with this mod.
Ok. I'm sorry. But I'm starting to lose my patience with how ships fight in your mod. First, regardless of the era, some of my ships will often fly by enemy ships...and keep on going. Even if I tell them individually to rejoin the fight or pick a new target, they won't. They fly out to maximum range and stop. Doesn't matter what game type you're playing. The AI will sometimes go right after the fleeing vessel and pummel the ship until the ship is destroy. This is especially true if the ship in question is the first ship in the AI's range.

Also, building fleet docks during invasion mode is worthless. Ships move towards the docks and get stuck behind them as if trying to move in. Capital ships are the worst about this. But no ship actually docks with the fleet dock. In versus mode, a ship will fly in through the back and out the front. They won't do this during invasion.

Another very annoying part of combat is how starships will fly right in to an enemy, fire until the enemy dies, and then be destroyed in the enemy's explosion. They won't distance themselves from their targets.

Also, if you cannot gather dilithium with Oberth carriers and workbees in invasion mode, why can you build them or even start the game with one? I decided to build nothing for an entire game except two workbees to mine resources. I received no resources at all. Although the RU rocks eventually fell to zero before the AI destroyed my starbase.

The mod really does look great and the sound effects and music are awesome. But a lot of the game play errors just make it frustrating. I'd like to send in a log file. But I think I need a file name because when I go through file explorer as the instructions say, I don't find anything named "HWrm.log." The only file name close to that is a text file named "HWrm."

Thanks for taking the time to write this out in a constructive manner, and you've hit the nail on the head with two things that Homeworld doesn't do very well in my opinion.
1. AI in general
2. Large ships moving quickly

I've been tinkering with some values, evident now in the Steam version after last night's upload, that seems to have calmed the collisions somewhat at the expense of smoother fly buys. I hope this improves the play experience

As for the invasion mode issues I have added then to my list to look into, should be able to get to the bottom of those!

That "HWrm" file is most likely the log, if you don't show file extensions on your computer. Try opening it with notepad, if it looks like a log shoot it through!

The "Ramming" issue has been a problem for a while now. Yes, it is very annoying. I have some ideas on how to possibly help. We will experiment, and see if there is any kind of improvement. Like Nathanius said it is an AI issue. A Vanilla AI issue. In Vanilla HWRM the large ships stop to attack, and remain stationary. However in some mods the large ships use strike craft type movement. There is the problem right there. The AI treats the ships with this type of movement as strike craft, and the domino effect of failure happens from there. We can try one of two things to help reduce the amount of ramming. Make the ships use corvette type movement to where the ships "circle" their targets, or try to "trick" the AI that an object is much closer than what it is. Both will be "questionable" as far as results, but it may be better than a ram fest.

Thanks. I did try to be constructive. I suspected that, as you said, the ships colliding was part of the Homeworld game itself since the ships in the regular game die in enemy ship explosions. I had even had that typed out in my original post. But I wasn't 100% sure. So, I deleted it.

I found the log file by turning on file extensions. I'll see if I can send it.

Now, I've got a whole new problem. Ever since the update, I've been getting the violation error. So, I started over. I unsubscribed from the mod, subscribed again, let the game alone while the launcher paused at "Connecting to Shift," then select the mod, run the mod, and bam. Access violation. So, I deleted the STCR.big file and let the launcher do it's thing. Same error. I repeated the above two more times. Same error.

I honestly do not know what I am doing wrong. I'm following instructions to the letter. Do you want me to send you another HWrM log file?

After finally getting the mod to run, when I try to start a game, any game, I get a "General failure" error and the game crashes.

Nathanius re-uploaded the mod. Apparently there was some corruption issues. See if you can get it to run now. I cant seem to get HWRM to run at all now. No mods. Not even the Vanilla game. Will keep posted. EDIT: Fixed it. Had HWRM.exe set to run as administraitor, and it wouldn't load the game. Go figure. Game, and mod both load fine now.

The mod works fine now. Although in my first game, an Akula class vessel rammed an enemy and was destroyed. *facepalm Oh, well.

Hi Major Stress,

Just wanted to add to the discussion w/r/t collisions. I don't know if you've seen the following, but perhaps it will help:
