Absolutely love the game but the rewards being nerfed for Global and Japan players is ridiculous and should not be a thing. Until Sega fixes this and treats its players better, I can't recommend it.

Persona5: The Phantom X is an example of a game that prioritizes style over substance. While this is a problem that is inherent in the gacha genre, it's especially evident in this title where, with the IP and the groundwork that comes with it, this should be a very easy game to give a decent story to. It's Persona 5 with a new, albeit inferior, coat of paint -- devoid of much of what makes Persona charming. The game feels soulless somehow, even with some character designs par excellence. Somehow, despite how beautiful the characters look and how cool everything seems, it feels superficial and shallow. Even the things I can say I enjoy about it, such as the music and art direction, still feel stale because it is mostly the same music and same art style that we've become accustomed to over the past decade we've had with them. Granted, both are great, but they're the same thing we've already seen. If the best parts of your game are what we are already familiar with from a previous title, I think therein lies the problem.

I tried this game on mobile. Then I tried it on PC just to make sure I gave it a fair chance. It just feels 'meh' to me. I think this feeling comes from multiple things -- Persona 5 fatigue, for example. This game is just the latest example of them dragging Persona 5 to the proverbial milking pail. This setting in the decade we've known it in its many iterations and spin-offs is by now exhausted. The characters feel random and like they're shoehorned into the story to have more characters to try to get -- I know it's a gacha game, but for this setting it just feels really uninspired. I know some people will give additional grace to this title because it is free. Well, considering how the game attempts to monetize... I think that's far from a fair excuse for its mediocrity. I also understand there is unfairness in how the Western market is being treated as opposed to others, but for me and in my experience with the game, it was the least of my worries with it. The game itself just doesn't feel fun, even without the 'scandals' that accompany it.
