I care deeply about GeoGuessr, but this severely underwhelming Steam release tarnishes their image and betrays the community with false promises of a free-to-play experience.

Most new players won’t want to pay anything after just 10 extremely one-sided matches followed by a paywall. A better approach would have been offering unlimited free Battle Royale games. Back when they were still free, I played 700(!!) of them, and that’s what ultimately led me to buy a Pro Elite subscription.
