I'm playing on HL2A + MMod.
The citizen faces don't have normal-mapping of any kind, nor do they have any material enhancements. Main characters like Alyx use normal maps paired with things like phong and what-have-you to make them look more detailed. But the citizens, still use a flat upscaled texture with nothing else applied to it. The noticeable difference is negligible. Give the faces extra mapping and add some of the main character material parameters to them so they actually stand out.
As far as I'm aware too, some material parameters require a normal map anyways in order to be used.
A bigger gripe of mine is that a lot of textures don't really look that much different from vanilla, the upscaling is sometimes barely noticeable, but what I think worsens this is the fact that a lot of textures don't use normal maps, spec maps, and other material enhancements. Because of this textures often look flat and still kind of low quality.
Можливо, що це вже для тебе не актуально, але відповім, як то кажуть - краще пізно, ніж ніколи). У налаштуваннях Gigapixel, на вкладинці Processing / Save вимкни перемикач Add scaling mode to filename. Також поля Default filename prefix та Default filename suffix мають бути порожніми, щоб назва вихідного файлу збігалася з ім'ям оригінального файлу. І так, якщо ім'я нового файлу буде відрізнятись від оригіналу, то гра його не побачить.
