Description
Charon Cargo Hauler 10 (CV Class 4, Unlock Level 20)

Primary roles: Heavy storage, Survival, Warp, Powerful thrust and RCS, SV Landing pad.

Update 6/24/2020 - I updated this this to Alpha 12. All RCS were removed and 4 CPU Tier 4 blocks added (In cargo area on floor visible). I also updated the stat screen shots on the post reflecting the changes.

The Charon-CH10 is the Ambry-CT's bigger higher capacity brother. It features 10x320K storage and lift power to move all that cargo. It also comes with many survival comforts and 6 turret basic defense (retractable). The 10x320K storage containers come stock located inside the cargo area of the ship however if you prefer outside access the controls can be moved along the exterior of the ship in the area behind the labeled cargo bin ramp doors.

The ship was designed to use as few of thrusters as possible, but very large and powerful ones. Inside the ship it has a standard operation "Thruster/RCS" as well as a "Heavy Lift Mode" switch. The "Thruster/RCS" must be on for the ship to fly properly. The "Heavy Lift Mode" activates more thrusters and RCS to deal with heavy amounts of cargo. It uses more fuel when on but more than doubles RCS used as well as additional lift and left/right thrusters. When parked both switches should be set to off to save on fuel. Due to the heavy amount of storage this ship exceeds 7500 by a fair amount. It could work at 7500 CPU without issue if 7 of the 10 storage bays were removed but that would defeat the purpose of the ship as a heavy cargo hauler. If you are looking for 7500 CPU CV cargo ship the Ambry-CT would meet those needs with 3x320K storage. It also features a decent sized landing pad for SV's.

The interior storage area has an extra hallway leading to the front area of the ship. There is no reason to go there and it is has extremely dangerous heat and radiation. Caution decals + hazard lights warn not to enter. If you do enter the area, wear extremely protective suit mods. This was just something to add a bit of immersion to the ship in space that could not be used for a livable area. Also, the interior lighting is tuned for night/space.

Survival

Inside the ship you find 2 Advanced constructors, 2 ammo boxes, Medical Station, 2 Fridges, 1 cooking station, Repair station, armor locker, o2 station and compartmentalized o2. Also off the back of the bridge you will find basically an apartment with bed, toilet, shower, TV, and a nice view. The ship has no farm.

Offensive and Defense

It comes with 6 retractable minigun turrets + control switch. The hull is built with steel.

going by the name alone I was wondering if you would look into a functional good design for the HULK from eve online or something near like it and sv mining drones/combat drones to go with it?

As to the air issue... I completely re-did, what I am currently calling, the Charon-CH10 X (because it is xtra wide) and managed to get the whole ship air tight. Looks like the original back end is air tight if one, blocks the constructor holes as Octal said.

@Comic Yak @jrandall It seems the leak is somewhere in the room with the constructors at the very front of the ship. to fix it I put two airtight blocks where the gaps in the half walls are.. I think the actual leak is where the thruster is all the way at the back of that constructor room, but not 100% sure. For now the bottom deck has air (minus the constructor room). Hope that helps a little

@jrandall Your welcome, I have spent many an hour trying to track it down lol. Everything afaik tell looks green/airtight. I have even added ventilators thinking maybe the air is just not getting to it...no change.

Also been trying to get your permission to put on workshop my modified version of the Charon. Sent pictures of it to your business gmail, with a couple questions.

Thank you Cosmic Yak. I have not looked at the ship recently and did not know it had an air leak. I noticed something changed with some blocks making them not air tight anymore which has caused a few creations I made to no longer hold air. I will have to look at this. Thanks for the heads up. I debated whether to say anything on this. The cargo area is not O2 covered. This carries over into west938, Randori, and my modifications. I have spent hours trying to track it down to no avail.
My modification widens the Charon allowing for room for upgrades like grow plots and Galaxy Reforged devices...whilst basically keeping fairly true to the original design of the Charon.
Carapace-7 really make my modification(s) moot lol.

Anywho, should someone come across why the cargo area won't hold air... let me know please. (preemptive reply... yes I have used the debug "N" tools for show air tight blocks and show oxygen...any other methods have not been tried besides pulling blocks and replacing them)

Thanks draynor9. This ship was made before shields were in the game so no home was mapped out for it. However, if some of the fluff stuff was removed from the cargo area, I think a shield could be added there somehow. It has some extra space for sure but might require some modding. Thanks again!
