OVERVIEW

This mod aims to completely rebalance the way Pistols are used in this game, and as such, it is best played alongside my Dedicated Pistol Slot mod. That said, you don't need it for this overhaul to work, so feel free to pass over it if you are not interested in what it does. Or check it out and then decide. Up to you.

The main goal of this Overhaul was to streamline Pistols in a way akin to the linear in-game increments present for all the other weapons, as well as providing more per-soldier or per-Sharpshooter individual Pistol customization by allowing all pistols to equip visual upgrades (you can see some of them in the screenshots). The ultimate objective was to make Pistols reliable, trusty sidearms to use in situations when using your main weapon or other abilites is not permitted.

You can find all the changes I've made below, as well as a section about compatibilities and such. Keep in mind that all of these changes are configurable in the .ini, so give it a read before asking in here, mkay?

GENERAL CHANGES
  • All pistols have received a new range table, with a rough 5% aim decrease across the board.
  • All pistols now have their dedicated range table, completely customizable on a per-tier basis (vanilla uses a single range table for all pistol tiers)
  • All pistols now have access to upgrades slots and visual upgrades (except for any Magazine-related upgrade, which will have no model and no effect, as pistols have unlimited ammo). Weapon Fixes is needed to fix Stock interactions with pistols.
  • All pistols now have negative armor penetration, which means that any shot against an armor equipped enemy will deal 1 less damage on top of the damage reduction provided by the armor. You will always deal a minimum of 1 point of damage, provided you hit the target or have a stock.

CONVENTIONAL
  • Weapon damage has been changed from 2-3 to a solid 2.
  • By default, has 1 upgrade slot.
  • Now has an innate critical chance of 5%.
  • Critical damage has remained +1.

MAGNETIC
  • Weapon damage has been changed from 3-4 to a solid 4.
  • By default, has 3 upgrade slots.
  • Now has an innate critical chance of 10%.
  • Critical damage has been changed to +2.

BEAM
  • Weapon damage has been changed from 3-6 to 6.
  • By default, has 4 upgrade slots.
  • Now has an innate critical chance of 15%.
  • Critical damage has been changed to +3.

DARKCLAW - CHOSEN'S PISTOL
  • Weapon damage has been changed from 4-7 to 7.
  • Pierce is unchanged.
  • Range is unchanged.
  • By default, provides no upgrade slots.
  • Critical damage has been changed to +4.
  • Now has an innate critical chance of 20%.
  • No support for visual upgrades (you can equip them but model will not be visualized on the pistol itself.)

LASER (IF USING WOTC WEAPON TIER OVERHAUL)
  • Positioned in-between Conventional and Magnetic tier.
  • Damage has been changed to 3.
  • By default, offers 2 upgrade slots.
  • Critical damage is set to +1.
  • Now has an innate critical chance of 5%.

COILGUN (IF USING WOTC WEAPON TIER OVERHAUL)
  • Positioned between Magnetic and Plasma tier.
  • Damage has been changed to 5.
  • By default, offers 3 upgrade slots.
  • Critical damage has been set to +2.
  • Now has an innate critical chance of 10%.

ALIEN HUNTER PISTOLS
  • Completely configurable, by default a copy of their respective tier.
  • Provides a flat +10 aim.
  • By default, no upgrade slots.
  • No support for visual upgrades (you can equip them but model will not be visualized on the pistol itself.)

TLP PISTOLS
  • Take their stats from their respective tier.
  • For example, if you modify the CV Pistol, the TLP CV Pistol will automatically have the same stats.
  • No support for visual upgrades (you can equip them but model will not be visualized on the pistol itself.)

COMPATIBILITIES
  • Supports (WOTC) Weapon Tier Overhaul. My mod will detect WTO and patch the pistols accordingly.
  • Supports [WotC] Laser Weapons - Magnetic Tier Replacer. My mod will detect MTR and patch the now Laser pistol using Magnetic stats.
  • Supports [WotC] Coil Weapons - Plasma Tier Replacer. My mod will detect PTR and patch the now Coil pistol using Plasma stats.
  • Supports Better Repeater BUT due to the code required to make it so, you will have to specify the damage values in my config instead of BR's one. You can find said values at the bottom of my config file.
  • Now compatible with Primary Secondaries! You can customize the primary variants' damage, range, upgrade slots, crit chance, aim and other stats directly from my config file. BE SURE TO SUBSCRIBE TO PS BEFORE SUBSCRIBING TO MY MOD. Doing so will ensure my mod properly recognize and tweaks PS' values.
  • By proxy, now also compatible with the Akimbo Class Mod.

btw if you use ANY mod that requires PS (like LW2 Primary secondaries) subscribe to this mod last (otherwise they will all overwrite this mod) and lead to broken visuals or missing upgrade slots

This mod looks great, but I can't seem to get it to work. It doesn't change the pistol's damage and it also doesn't allow me to attach any upgrades to them. I don't use any other mod that messes with pistols besides Iridar's Autopistol Overhaul. I already checked the XComWOTC_Pistol_Overhaul.ini file and everything seems to be fine, so I have no clue why it isn't working. Does anyone have any ideas?

@Veehementia Hm, still no luck. Only the stock and the repeater are broken though. I could provide screenshots if need be. For the stock, it appears in the right place, but a second one also appears in a weird spot. While for the repeater, it also appears in the right spot, but a second one ends up floating under the barrel of the gun.
