Description
During the 2010 World Cup I was on vacation in Toronto and Montreal. I observed the most passionate fans in both cities, whether they were rooting for Italy, Argentina, Spain or any other international team, descended on to the Little Italy commercial corridor to view the matches. With the venues too crowded inside the the bar owners mounted extra televisions outside for hundreds of enthusiastic fans on the sidewalk. Between games certain fans would circle Little Italy over and over again in their cars while honking horns and singing songs. These are my most fond memories of any World Cup and wanted to bring them to C/S.

About Bar Sportivo

Bar Sportivo is a popular Italian Soccer bar on Boul St-Laurent in the La Petite Patrie neighborhood.

Entering Bar Sportivo is like travelling back in time thanks to the vintage decor that reflects the authenticity of this historic bar of Little Italy. This bar is the place to be to watch a soccer game with friends with whom you can share the excitement of a match and hope that your team will win. At Bar Sportivo, you will undoubtedly meet the friendly owner of the establishment, Salvatore D'Onofrio, who will be happy to tell you more about his business history and talk with you about soccer.

About the Building

The real-life Bar Sportivo is in more of a basic 1950s or 1960s building. I melded features of the facade, including the signage and balcony, into a building style more reflective of the early 1900s architecture I am featuring in the Little Italy collection. A series of satellite dishes, from an asset pack by BeardMonkey, were placed on the roof so that the bar can receive broadcast feeds for soccer games around the world.

Background on Little Italy collection

This sport bar is a community anchor for my Little Italy collection. I plan to publish in the coming months where I take independent Italian American businesses with appealing vintage signage that have endured for decades in places like NYC, Philly, Detroit, St Louis, SF, etc.. Expect to see pasta shops, cheese shops, cafes, bakeries, butchers and much more.

The signage is part of the main mesh so no custom props are included with this asset. I relied on vanilla lights to illuminate the signage rather than have the signs have their own illumination.

You will want to subscribe to the satellite dish pack I linked in the required items for the full look.

@wlochu5 - sorry, I'm off track. Other obligations have come up. I would say realistic ETA is end of April.

"There will be a big 4x4 Italian grocery coming out in 7-10 days. " ? I absolutely do not rush, I just want you to know that someone is waiting impatiently for this project.

This is perfect for making little ethnic districts in the city. Do you think you could make some sort of central Italian heritage park or something as a centerpiece for the town?

Thank you both. There will be a big 4x4 Italian grocery coming out in 7-10 days. So definitely extend that street =)

Maraviglioso—like your other Little Italy assets. They are so evocative of an era and a people.
