Sometimes AI soldiers spawn with special loadouts in certain (always the same) places. They aren't a part of any other squad so they are often easily distinguishable by fighting alone!

When they die a special gold dog tag icon will appear on your screen. When you press F on a body of such a soldier you will automatically collect a unique dog tag (dogtag). Even if you exit the battle the dog tag will be saved now. If you struggle with collecting the dog tag try changing the difficulty settings to "Easy", and Max AI units to "Low". There is also a working exploit. It's possible to start a private server without any bots. Dog tag characters will still spawn and can be easily found alone that way (thank you Ostrich!).

You can later play as the soldier with a dog tag you collected. It often represents a real person fighting in a certain battle. It also has a special loadout that sometimes lets you use weapons you wouldn't have a chance to use (for example Obrez Pistol).
