Moonforged Monarchy

Description

Among the frigid mountains in the harsh snow-covered lands surrounding Snowbreeze lies the castle that belonged to the Moonforged Mining Clan. Roughly hewn out of the very mountains it resides in.
The Moonforge Clan was a small and hardly noble group, but they crowned their leader a king all the same.

The castle was once the site of digging out gold, silver, iron, as well as the occassional gemstone while it also was carved into a furnished cavern for the Clan to call home.
The wealth they amassed selling their mined goods to the nearby towns grew and grew, eventually infecting the Clan's king, Tagar Stonesmith.
He would order incessantly to his underlings, "Keep digging!" he shouted. Wanting to create his very own underground empire built on their backs and with other kingdom's coin.

The king gave little regard to his people or their surroundings during their rapid expansion into the mountains. His greed-fueled madness ultimately lead to both his grave and the end of their kingdom.
It is rumored that during the tunneling of a new section they broke into something buried deep in the mountain, something that was never meant to be found. The stories tell of a "mountain's heart".

That night the bedrock itself surrounding their kingdom and the mountains shook, screams of the Moonforged Clan echoed in the valleys. They'd unleashed something sinister.
Many perished, including the king himself, those who didn't succumb were sealed in by the mountains crumbling around them, left to simply count the days while waiting on their slow demise.

Ever since the 'The Tremor in the Breeze' the castle has been thought dormant and abandoned, these days a decrepit ruin.
But recently rumors started spreading of witchcraft and other magical activities going on in its halls, prompting the locals to enlist a team of hunters to drive any and all witches out and eradicate their presence from the land.

Will you join the team of brave hunters and weed out the Witches? Or are you cooking things up on the inside to take over the snowy landscapes around?

Enter the depths of the Moonforged Clan and compete for it's abound resources that lay waiting inside!

This is the first map I've ever made for the regular gamemodes of Witch It, as well as the first map I made completely on my own.
I spent a considerable amount of time to ensure that the map has a nice flow, don't have a lot of structures or grouped props that make it difficult or annoying to traverse the map, making for a nicer experience to play on it.

Note: For anyone having FPS issues, from what I have heard this may be due to it being built on the base of Snowbreeze and use that map base among others seem to have similar issues, try lowering graphic (specifically lighting and shadows settings) and see if it's smoother for you.

This map consists of:

- 979 Props
- 2385 Structures

It is suitable to play in each mode below:

- Mobification
- Hide and Seek
- Hunt a Hag
- Any others I may be forgetting that are NOT Imposturous or Fill a Pot

Worked hours:

- 40-50 hours on structure layout and prop placement
- 10-15 hours of poking on the map, covering holes, putting down border walls
- ~3-4 hours on lore, graphics, trailer / video

A huge shoutout and special thanks to Farbenkeks who helped me learn a lot about Creative Mode while working together on other maps, as well as feedback on this map and help
in shooting parts of the video.

And thank you to Morinor for taking time out of their day and helped me learn a bit so I could make these graphics!

This map features a small set of steps before the entry way into the underground castle where the preparations of the hunters can be seen.

The interior consists of the grand steps down, leading into the main halls.
On the right we can see a small photography studio, on the left we have the Tatershrine as well as a passage through to the carved staircase.

Above the staircase we have the humble study, and beyond the stair we have the entrance to the vault.

The interior is also made up out of 5 structures, the aforementioned vault, as well as an infirmary, dormitory, a section taken over by witches, as well as the feasthall / throneroom.

Between the throneroom and the infirmary we have the site of the disaster, during expansion the Moonforged Clan broke into a cavern deep in the mountains containing the mountain heart, upon breaking down the wall a huge blast of magical energy caused an explosion that ultimately made the map what it is today.

On top of the throneroom we also have a small section with a tent, one for mining equipment, the other for general supplies.

And on top of the infirmary there is a small shed with leftover building materials.

By the entrance next to the infirmary and above the photography studio we find a small encampment of the hunters of the clan, showcasing some of their equipment and other goods.
Following along this path we get to the scaffolding connecting the tops of the infirmary and the dormitory.

On top the dormitory we have a site of celebration after a hard week of mining.

As this is getting long-winded, please explore the map on your own, there's plenty more!

But finally, the map also features 14 different hidden and secret props, why don't you try finding them all?

If you enjoy this map and would like to see it in the official rotation, please give it a good rating and upvotes or whatever else this is all based on. Thanks!
