Gramophone Music

Description
Description
Adds an interaction to the gramophone player in the Gramophone Cafe that will allow you to select a song from the game's album to play and save as the new song that plays whenever you are in the Gramophone Cafe.
A Cassette Player item is given when interacting with the Gramophone Player for the first time that allows you to change the overworld/battle music.
Both the Gramophone and the Cassette Player will display your own MP3 files on the music play list. (see Custom Playlist Instructions below)

Gramophone Player Instructions:
  • Selecting a song from the list will retain that song as the new default for the Gramophone Cafe (retains this setting between sessions)
  • Previewing a song will play that track temporarily while you are in the Cafe, will return to default when the scene changes.

Cassette Player Instructions:
  • To get the item, interact with the Gramophone Player open the music selection menu. You'll get the item once you close the menu.
  • The Cassette Player is located in the Key Items menu
  • When using the Cassette Player, you can preview a song from the list or select the song to make that the new default song that plays in the Overworld, regardless of where you are.
  • When using the Cassette Player, you can choose to set the selected song as the Battle Track.
  • To change back to the default music from the Region, just select Default from the music list.
  • Cannot be used in Battle. Setting battle music should be done outside of battle.

Custom Playlist Instructions:
  • Create a folder named music in one of the following directories.
    • on Windows
      C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\CassetteBeasts\music\
    • on Linux
      ~/.local/share/CassetteBeasts/music/
  • Add your mp3 files to that music folder
  • Whenever you open the music selection list, in game, you'll see your custom tracks displayed at the bottom of the list.

DLC Support:
The music tracks for the Pier of The Unknown DLC will appear in the track list if you own the DLC. They appear just before any custom tracks.

Selective Muting
By setting the track to Silence you can mute Cafe/Overworld/Battle music independently.

FAQ
  • Can I use other audio formats besides mp3?
No, at the moment the mod will only accept mp3 files
  • What happens if I use the wrong file type for my music?
The song wont play and you'll see a lot of angry messages about it in your log file. The game itself won't crash.
  • What happens if I remove one of my mp3 files from the music folder after saving it as the track to be played?
The game will default to the vanilla region setting track the next time it tries to load the song.
  • Do I need to restart the game every time I want to add another mp3 file to the music folder?
No, you can add/remove files from the music folder whenever you want. The tracks will be auto populated next time you open that menu.
  • Is it safe to uninstall the mod after changing the music so much?
Removing the mod will just set the music back to its original settings and the Cassette Player item will be safely removed from your inventory.
  • How do I set the music back to normal?
Open the music selection screen and select the Default option at the top. This change the music back to whatever the default for the region is.
  • Can I change the battle music with this?
No, at the moment this only applies to the Overworld and Cafe.

Compatibility:
Tested on Cassette Beasts v1.5
Tags save file: No - Safe to remove
Tags netplay: No - Clientside only

Note: This will play songs from the end of the game as well, in case you don't want to hear those before experiencing them in their intended way.

I think I know what this might be. I'll set up some time to fix

Somehow the Sunshine update conflicts with this mod, causing Sunny to not join you in the 3v3 at the start of her new questline while it's enabled.

No rush! Mod development is hard!

Sorry, I've been busy with another project lately and haven't taken the time to look into this yet.

Any updates on being able to set a battle music override that retains the dynamic layering (as CatgirlV3 requested)? I'd *love* that. <3

I'll look into it. Should be doable

Would it be possible to set a separate Fusion Battle Track from the Normal Battle Track? Like, when you fuse, have it change to another track. If that can't be done smoothly, maybe just tracks that actually have the vocal and instrumental versions, so you still get the hype of fusing and having lyrics kick in.

Nevermind, randomly fixed itself. 10/10 mod

Tried testing this mod. It's amazing. Only issue I have at the time is the custom tracks. It detects the files but doesn't play them. Just silence. But everything works perfectly fine otherwise.
