Avdiivka Thunder

Description
Have you ever yearned for the trenches in Ukraine's longest fought battle?
Now you can!

Avdiivka Thunder is a gigantic 4 by 3 map (±24x18km) based off satellite images from the Avdiivka area, all nearby settlements have been mapped out, most roads and railway networks were included as well.

You can recreate the battle for the garbage dump!
Maybe you want to have have a spiff in one of the lovely nearby towns that were fought over like Kamianka or Stepove!

The map also includes some fortifications from the 2014 conflict, these trench lines are garisonable by all types of units, they are definetely not just very tiny sheds flipped over and put under tree branches!

Right now there are 6 scenario's, these will need some balancing but for now all are playable:

Avdiivka Train Station (3v3): The area east of Avdiivka, mostly containing the small city of Yasynuvata, an important railway hub and industrial hotspot, besides that the area is also heavily forested.


Avdiivka Outskirts (1v1): The area that saw most combat in the interwar period of 2015-2021, containing destroyed pieces of the city and trench lines.


Avdiivka Fields (2v2): The fields west of Avdiivka were an important area in the encirclement of the city, after the Russians captured the towns of Opytne and Vodyane they
marched on to take Orlivka, the main supply road still providing resources to the city, the so called "road of life" was being covered from this location. The map mostly consists of village areas and big farmlands surrounded by thick treelines that allow for a lot of undetected maneuvers...


Avdiivka Urban (2v2): This is the main area of control in and around the city, expect a lot of urban combat, this place is huge!


Avdiivka Coke Plant (1v1): This is the top area above Avdiivka that saw a lot of combat in the closing days of the offensive, the Russian armed forced tried to cut off the supply connections in the north, however, they first had to take the strategic but hard to get to location of the garbage pile. Only then could the eyes of the Ukrainian forces be taken off of the advancing troops towards Stepove.


Avdiivka Thunder (4v4 but actually 10v10): This is the entire map, it's actually too big to play, so we provided capturable reinforcement zones near the opposite corners of the map. You will want a good resupply system going if you want to make any progress on this gigantic map.

Please make all of the maps usable for destruction, I understand that you do not like destruction but a lot of people do.

Do keep in mind, the base game rarely has realistic terrain elevation, they just jump from one level to another and most of the terrain is flat. This is not the case on my map.

I believe on the outskirts of the central city, in the trench line that runs along the forest the LOS is offset from the mouse, thats the only one I can recall right now, I'll try to look at it later and get a picture

Can you give examples of other areas besides the trenches?

I am not sure if there can be a fix for the trench LOS itself, this is because the actual buildings units are in are placed inside the trenches and they are placed a bit lower than normal buildings. To me this makes sense, since in a trench your field of view will be smaller than in a regular building, but sadly I couldn't fix this due to how the game works with how I made the trenches.

Making them easier to select could be possible yes, but it would also make it harder to place them close to eachother. I'll look into making the selection box a bit taller so that you don't have to click inside of it.

In some areas, especially the trenches, the LOS is off and isn't on the mouse itself. This also causes issues with LGBs from what I can see so if you can find a fix for that, it would be appreciated, bar that, its a nice map, but perhaps make the trenches easier to select
