[EN/CN] Roguelike Mod REBORN

Description
What is "Roguelike Mod REBORN"?

Roguelike Mod REBORN (RMR for short) is a mod that overhauls Library of Ruina to play as a roguelike, inspired by games like StS (Slay the Spire), Alina of the Arena, Risk of Rain & more. It adds a handful of new features, items, pages, enemies, EGO, abno cards & more.

*Its also a remake of the original Roguelike Mod, made by ABCDCODE

Compatibility
FOR MODDERS: Roguelike Reborn has extensive support for extension and satellite modding- you can make entirely separate campaigns with Roguelike systems, or simply add new items, events or encounters as you wish. There is extensive documentation of the mod in our Discord, if you are interested.
FOR PLAYERS: Since RMR changes not only Ruina's gameplay but its inner workings drastically, most regular mods will likely make no difference.

Known incompatibilities, issues and recommendations will be listed below:
  • Heukhyeon's Sayo to Everyone: CRITICAL - Completely destroys the passive attribution system within Roguelike.
(Mods listed as CRITICAL will prevent you from playing Roguelike entirely. Please disable them before starting a run.)

Our Roadmap

Item Revision

We weren't happy with Old Roguelike's (ORL) item system and their effects because they were filled with incorrect descriptions, localization errors and bugs. RMR's Item Revision update aims to fix and improve items (and upgrades), giving them a unique use and clear functionality.

Abno Rework

While ORL's abno selection allowed for customization early and less RNG-dependency it also let balance-breaking combos (with abnos that were never supposed to be used with each other) be crafted and used, trivializing some events and bosses on later chapters. We plan to rework the method to obtain them, allowing the player to receive new abno pages (fitting for their chapters) along the run.

Card Upgrade Rework

Card upgrades varied from higher rolls to new effects, but were mostly the former, leaving upgrades only effective on a small selection of cards. RMR plans to give every card meaningful upgrades (making most count) and different 'upgrade paths' in the future.

Progression Rework

ORL's progression system is less sofisticated for today's standards (mainly janky). Not only do we plan to add a better save/load feature, but also enhance rewards and the general experience - adding a new unique map for every run.

Impurity Chapter

A final chapter as a way to end the mod and offer late game bosses. Impuritas will serve as a test to the player's skill and decisions along their run, possibly giving vanilla bosses new mechanics and RMR-exclusive bosses their own to fit with the overall gameplay.

@tabs Would you mind joining the discord and sending your player log so we can track down the issue?

i'm unsure why it happens, but every time i fight hook office and break a die on the quickness page the fight bricks and i can't do anything. it's pretty funny but also annoying and the only solution i've found was to just not clash it. peak mod though

@isaacbat9 Unstable Orb is also really good at early game, though other starter items are probably getting reworked.

hello i am playing this mod thus far
i have so far done 5 runs getting farther ahead on each ( currently on sotc with my current one)
am i overlooking something or is shiv creating cloak like. the best starter out of all of them? i mean, it has great use early game ( allows for consistency which is rare in early game.... i think) its very useful for pierce fatal fights, it allows build up over time in order to ultra kill a target, and also

who the hell was the amazing genius who decided "hmm yes if i use scratch that and it lands on the 11 shiv boosted unparalled gaze it will not waste it" it seems kind of broken so im wondering, is there such busted synergys's with the other starter items? great mod btw

@AritheReaper could you please join the Discord and send us your player log? That's the only conclusive way we'll be able to tell what's going wrong exactly. It could be a third thing that you didn't even think of that's causing the issue.

Not sure about the Stray Dogs one yet since I haven't gotten it in a run since discovering the solution to the issue, but I assume--if it's like The Thumb event fight--it might be because the librarians are displaced during combat? Dunno, just throwing out ideas.

There appears to be some form of mod compatibility issue with either the old "Vanilla Hairs Reworked" mod or the speed dice color mod. Possibly even both? When I have both on at the same time as the mod, two events--the Urban Legend event where you fight against the Stray Dogs (or just "a gang" in the event's text) and the event where you accept a cash box from an Index member only to fight the Thumb in a later event both fail to work. More specifically, having both mods on prevents you from entering each event's combat, though it'll take you to the before-fight screen.

Not sure about Vanilla Hairs, but there seems to be an issue with the Speed Dice color mod altogether. I haven't had a chance to test it on the Stray Dogs, but when using the mod in The Thumb event's fight, for whatever reason it zooms the camera it REALLY far and locks it, preventing you from zooming out enough to see more than a librarian or two.
