Classic Flashlight - ENHANCED
Hello stalkers,

This mod changes the in-game flashlight to make it both more useful and more in line with the classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy. If you’ve missed the classic flashlight feel or just want a clearer view while exploring in the dark, this mod is for you.

Now evolving beyond its classic-style roots, this mod introduces new atmospheric features that make the flashlight feel truly immersive. With effects like subtle light flicker, natural sway and more, it adds an extra layer of tension when navigating mutant-infested ruins and dark underground passages.

Features - Classic
  • Increased range: The flashlight beam reach is slightly but meaningfully increased, giving you better visibility in dark areas without feeling overpowered.

  • Color adjustment: The default orange tint has been replaced with a cooler tone - no more looking like your batteries are about to die.

  • Sharper beam edges: Instead of fading off into a weak blur, the light now has more defined edges. You can clearly see where the beam ends, just like in the older games.

  • Reduced radius, but brighter feel: The beam is slightly narrower than in vanilla, making it more focused and similar to the classic trilogy’s flashlight. Despite this, the beam still feels more effective overall thanks to the improved range and clarity.

  • Lens texture effect: When shining the flashlight on a surface, you’ll now see subtle imperfections and artifacts from the lens. This adds a touch of realism and brings the look closer to the classic trilogy flashlights.

  • Improved close-range light spill: The flashlight now illuminates nearby surfaces more effectively, especially in tight indoor areas. No more tiny or weak lighting when standing close to walls or objects.

Features - ENHANCED
  • Light flicker: Introduced a flashlight flicker effect that triggers randomly, adding an extra layer of tension and immersion. Perfect for enhancing the mood during nighttime exploration, underground sections, and dark, abandoned tunnels.

  • Flashlight sway: The flashlight now gently sways to simulate head movement, making it feel less static and more natural during walking or running.

  • Fake "indirect lighting": A subtle secondary light source now simulates indirect bounce lighting, improving indoor visibility without sacrificing the classic focused flashlight look. (Real indirect lighting is currently not possible)

  • Volumetric effects: Added a subtle volumetric effect - faint shafts of light and fog interaction that add depth and atmosphere. It's intentionally kept minimal, as volumetrics in this game can be visually inconsistent. A stronger effect made the flashlight blurry and harder to use.

Happy to hear you're enjoying the mod :) The flashlight is already at least 2x brighter than the vanilla one, I didn't want to make it too bright because then shadows can start looking weird on some surfaces.

Man no exageration, the way it looks and the vibes it gives me, are so freaking great, this has to be the best flashlight mod. Only thing I would do is to make it a tini bity more brigth, but even the way it currtently is, its gona stay as my default, great job :Gregg:

What do you mean? Yes, there is some volumetric effect, but not too much, as I found that the way lighting works in this game, too much volumetric light looked bad and blurry. But there is some, yes.

volumetric?
