DATE-TIME GROUP: 26 JUN 85 0442Z
CLASSIFICATION: OPERATIONAL IMMEDIATE
TO: ALL TASKED UNITS
SUBJ: SAR MISSION

1. SITUATION:
SSK S318 Kobben lost to hostile action.
USS Pigeon (ASR-21) is currently underway to designated recovery grid. Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA): 0542Z.

2. MISSION:
Protect USS Pigeon during transit and subsequent search-and-rescue operations. Vessel integrity is mission-critical. Pigeon must remain operational at all costs.

3. EXECUTION:

Nimitz Carrier Strike Group has been reassigned. Objective: provide immediate and sustained air support to recovery operation.

E-2C Hawkeye (VAW-126 “Seahawks”) has launched from Trondheim Air Station. Tasked with aerial reconnaissance and early warning.

Rules of Engagement: Weapons Free. Engage and neutralize any confirmed hostile threats to mission assets.
