2. The best solution to this is a temporary dip underground - Train Stations comply well with it.
I am still learning the path of using rail between highways. I modified Silver Fields Redux map by destroying all roads and rails and replacing them with this. My main issue is knowing where to put the stations and everything, proper use of internal-external systems and separate lines for persons and cargo.
The spacing is perfect to allow for left hand exits to slip down between the tracks and other side highway, let me show you. If you look at some of my last screenshots you will see what I'm talking about. If done right, it greatly reduces your need for interchanges and makes traffic flow unbelievably. Pretty much going to promote this set of intersections whenever there's an opportunity to.
