TurtleShroom, thanks for the chat! This was fun, and your comments made me stop and think: "well, maybe he's right about that", then go and read it up.
Be well! Stay safe and see you both in the City :)
Trump - and I am no fan - could have just said: "yes, they asked me to go to the Bunker" and then talked about Law and Order. Instead, well you know.
I think Trump was secluded for an hour (secluded is a relative term, the Bunker is more like a command post with comms out the wazoo, plus connecting tunnels to other office buildings in DC). The news he was there was leaked (overheard?) the next day. Probably someone in the inner-circle of officials and aids who like to talk over lunch. Attorney General Barr on June 8th said to FOX News that yes, "things were so bad" that Trump was recommended to go down.
Although, the six GOLF class diesel subs the Russians had since 1955 could launch up to three SCUD-sized nuclear tipped rockets from 105 miles out at sea with an approx. 11 min flight time (I did not know this until just now reading it...), but, they had questionable accuracy and a "small atomic" payload.
Let's see... President Bush was at Booker Elementary in Sarasota, FL at 9/11. When told of the second plane hitting the Towers (he'd been briefed about the first plane, which we all thought was surely an accident), he paused, stayed ten minutes to let the kids who were reading to him finish, then apologized for having to leave early (I really like Bush for not running: he would be a priority target for terrorists). Bush was briefed in an empty schoolroom and then spent the next nine hours airborne on Air Force One until the situation - such as it was - was under control.
Vice President Cheney did go to the Bunker after the second plane. Unknown at that moment, the third plane, unable to target the Capitol or the White House, crashed into the Pentagon.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Bush in the bunker immediately after 9/11, or even moved out of the area, due to the threats of the hijackers? Kennedy didn't go in there because there was no direct threat to his person.
On another point, the President regularly inspects the Bunker. God knows that, were I President, I would really want to see it and the other secrets of my new home. I'd bet money that if there was an emergency, it wouldn't be on the itinerary. Inspections, however, would be. Was the President down there and came back up immediately after the men were caught? That would raise flags.
How did it come to be known that Trump visited the bunker? Who asserted that he did it because of the jumpers?
Deadbone, thank you for your service, and Happy Birthday!
Thank you for your input, and it's good to hear for someone that actually knows what they are talking about.
Jumpers happen all the time, but you said it yourself: they went missing . We later learned that they didn't breach the inner fence, but what if they did?
That means they could very well be in the White House. Let's say they did get in. If he didn't go to the Bunker and he got shot, I assume the media would, after they and the man that made this Mod stop celebrating, say he should have gone to the Bunker.
Jumpers have happened on a limited, but regular basis over the years. By my count, there's been 29 publicized jumping events since 1974. No previous President has gone (forced or not) to the Bunker for jumpers.
Why? Because it looks weak. Even President Kennedy didn't go to the Bunker at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Trump, the man who said in 2018 "I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon," when responding to the Parkland, Florida school shooting, now tells the world he "was just on an inspection," when asked about the Bunker. Hence the name Bunker Boy.
So KingLeno, you are right, and I love your Bad Hombres :)
Don't forget to add ORANGE SODA MAN BAD as a drink specialty!
