Since this version is not available for 1.4 (I believe the mod author no longer has an interest in modding this game) does any one here know whether the fan continuation by @TheRealLemon caters to existing saves, or will they break?

does anyone know wither or not that this mod is compatible with my little planet? I'v ran into a issue where if I were to choose a small planet to start on the game refuses to spawn anymore than one settlement per faction each. I want to find out if this could help since this mod can control faction spawn rates.

yeah, Vanilla should have the ability for factions to group as a native aspect. how are the tribals maintaining that one cross-map base with it separated off and being thrashed at by it's enemies? The pirates make sense because they're not really with a distinct faction, they're just pirates. The empire makes sense because they're spacers, of COURSE they have set up bases wherever they want, what are their opponents gonna do when psycasters make their ears bleed with a literal thought?

I genuinely can't believe people play the game without this mod. Let's say that 20 factions/countries coexist on a planet, it would be completely illogical for all their bases/cities to be randomly distributed over the surface of the planet instead of being geographically grouped. It would be reasonable for a couple of factions to share their territory or some factions to be scattered throughout the planet, such as pirates or nomadic tribes. But the vanilla faction distribution is chaotic and absurd to me.

I understand that the author has moved on and I respect and support the decision 100%, but the game without this mod is literally unplayable for me.

After 5 years of modding for this game I am stepping aside. Life has me busy and I will not have time to update my mods. If anyone picks this up let me know and I'll post a message in the description pointing people to the 1.4 version.

anyone know of other mods that work just like this, i like having a couple dozen of each faction on the map, and hate how i have to add them manually rather then with a plus and minus button, so if anyone has a mod, or know a mod that is like this or similar to this let us know.

I'd also like to know what the "Center Tile" option is.

Also, ClockworkC0rvus, I'm having the same problem as you. I had assumed that the "Max" slider under "(Advanced) Tile Distance Between Faction Groups" would solve the issue, but that just causes like only 7 settlements total to show up around the world, as well as a bunch of red errors. Either I'm doing something wrong, or I'm reading it wrong and that one's too specific for what I need. I'm trying the "Min" slider now. Had it on the lowest it could go, but I feel like the "Center Tile" option might be my ace in the hole... If I can figure out how it works.

I'm not the mod developer so I am not 100% on this, but I assume the slider affects distance between settlements, not the level of density. So a lower number actually means *higher* density, thus more "crowded", than a high number. Because the higher number would mean more distance between settlements.

So I am experiencing some weird behavior. My goal is to make the more "developed" factions have their settlements in clumps throughout the world in clusters, and the various tribal, pirate and insectoid/mechanoid factions scattered more sparsely.

For some reason, however, the clumps tend to clump together as well, with pretty much all of them being within 1/8th of the world, and often right next to each other (or mixed in with each other). That isn't ideal, how do I get them to stop doing this?

It would be nice if one could find/see the values for what the vanilla values for sparse - crowded is. Is 3/4s to "crowded" a 100? 150? Is the equivalent of having the slider in the middle the same as the default value?

And why does decreasing the base density increase the crowdedness?
Good mod thats definetily a must have for me from now on but its a bit confusing

It's awesome seeing settlements close together, they almost feel like countries.

Btw, I'm still not sure about what you meant by "The center of the open area" regarding the Center Tile option.

Could you add an option to reset everything to the default please? It would also be great if we could control all enabled factions density with one slider, its rare I want to change them individually.

@bukowa Pending the approval of the mod author, load order shouldn't matter. I've placed this mod in the same section than all my other "world map generation" mods. RenPy doesn't seem to mind.
