Finally got around to play this. I must say it's one of the best short demos out here, and there are plenty for this game. Felt nice to be constantly underwater, and the one monster encounter it had had a lot more tension because of the limited movement and visibility. The structure gel item and the power cord was a bit hard to notice, I spent some time looking around what to do. They could have used some effects to highlight them better. The protagonist voice acting was also somewhat comical, but as someone who had struggled with providing my own VA and messing around with the HPL3 VoiceHandler, this is acceptable. Alas I am thankful you released this instead of scrapping it. For a demo, it deserves an 8/10 and a recommendation. A worthy piece in the SOMA collection.

@Kevin Loondren If you still have the Suit Flesher NPC you could upload the files for it to Moddb so other people could use it for future mods.

If you're still working on the mod, let me know if you need any fixed unused monsters. I think the Suit Flesher could fit in your mod, I finished fixing his AI but I think I might need your help with something related to its mesh (if you know how deal with such things let me know)

is this still being worked? id really like to see a completed version someday since this is pretty gud.going through site alpha kinda brings me back to my last memories of the game but with a twist :)

The map looks really nice, but please get a voice actor and re-write the dialogue. That's the only thing holding this back from being really good.

Very good Demo. I didn't think it was that long and was really impressed. I also like that u used so many features of SOMA. Keep it up, maybe we'll get to see more of your work in the future.

This is not a personal attack on the author or anyone who enjoys the mod, please take this as a strongly worded opinion piece from an experienced SOMA modder.

Jesus Christ. The modding scene is dead. After Games ended the whole thing is now on the floor dead and buried. Not only did I waste time downloading a 4GB mod but I also lost hope for any mod to come out and be good.

This single map is an edit of the Tau map, either painstakingly recreated or just copy/pasted and extended, but hey, it does exactly what is says on the tin: "The game is directly connected with SOMA's Universe but slightly changed." The maps were dark, blurred and sluggish to move around and while the detail was pretty decent the lack of alpha usage on bubble particles makes me feel like Im in a jakoozie.

The voice acting is probably the worst the modding scene has to offer, I recognised the default Voccoder preset bundled with FL Studio immedietely as I walked out of the first room, so you know a lot of effort went into it on that front. Good points for making some pretty funny moments though.

The enemy section was pretty monotomous with no change of style in level design or asthetics: just the same corridors we are used to be this point in the mod. The Construct in this mod can very much screw people over when trying to hide from it as a nearby bathroom has a locked bathroom stall, good luck if it corners you! The robot did have a positive change of it adapting the Crawlers VO but it would get fairly repetitive listen to the same 10 odd lines over and over.

Finally the worst part of the mod is the ending, where as soon as you escape the Monster and are climbing a ladder to freedom you get booted straight to the menu, it is the most lazy way of ending any mod, utterly disgraceful.

While the mod does have some potential with the details it is as hollow as a rotted oak tree with many bugs, frustrations, a 4GB download and an amazingly anti-climactic ending.

I wanted to try this out but the levels are so dark that it's really quite laborious. Also I don't seem to have a torch. Is that a bug? I can't see anything.

To clarify, I mean the work area door in the area patrolled by the monster, not the one with the tape recorder.

Couple of thoughts:

Firstly, navigating in that incredibly dark environment is a chore, I had to modify the mod files and enable the flashlight to make it playable

Secondly, as others have mentioned audio that plays over speakers is too low.

Finally, I presume that the area beyond the work area door is not yet meant to be accessible, because I couldn't work out how to open it? If so, you might want it to send you back to the menu there rather than past the door.

All told, with a few minor design tweaks this has the potential to be an interesting mod, I hope you keep working at it.

Great mod you've created. I enjoyed it a lot and the atmosphere is creepy too.
However I ran into a couple of problems when playing the mod: I found it a bit difficult navigating throughout the game without a flashlight. And the audio recordings volume are quite low.

Haven't played it yet, but I noticed you included lots of original game files in your mod, making it the size of 400MB.

Just a reminder: you don't have to include files from the game in your mod folder in order to make it work!
If you haven't changed any of them, just don't include them. The game will load them from it's root folders.
