2. played on hard died first encounter
3. played on normal died 2nd mission
4. I could play on easy but why? more disappointment?
5. I understand i didn't mid max but that should only be required for hard

For me it does work, guess dragonfall dlc is needed?

Either way, I do like that game attempts to do optional stealth objective on second scene, but controls of Shadowrun Return aren't really made for stealth game and the guards turn around really fast :'D I dunno if being troll makes stealth harder or not, not feeling like experimenting right now, based on what people are saying I should switch to decker anyway

I can't even launch this in 2021. What a shame, I liked the intro crawl text and was curious where that was going.
Sir_Elrond 28 Sep, 2020 @ 9:01pm
I love the atmosfear, really Seattle 2050, finding back a lot of Shadowrun standards.
Yet, some bugs still to be corrected.
J. Smallberries 22 May, 2019 @ 2:21pm
Yeah, no. Weak dialogue, it's not Shadowrun standards. I have no idea how the plot unfolds because they lost me in the first 15 minutes, and that's not easy.
jedimasterdaryl 14 Jan, 2019 @ 12:01am
I hired a decker mercenary and I was not able to use the mercenary for the matrix mission. I could only jack in with my main character who did not have decent decking skills and got killed every time. This would be much better if the bug was fixed and my hired hand could jack in to the matrix.
MsGoogly 28 Jun, 2018 @ 10:07am
I built a decker/rigger. I tried getting into Ares on my own. Unfortunately my character wasn't high enough level to handle on her own. So I hired Sleaze to help out. However, I can't figure out how to jack in Sleaze along with me using the node in my safehouse.
jedimasterdaryl 1 Jun, 2018 @ 1:41pm
If you start out as a rigger in the first scene you are given a doberman a pistol and a machette. In the first scene I had access to the doberman drone and the pistol. In the second scene I had the machette and the pistol. It seems to be a bug where it gives you 3 weapons and only 2 are equipable in the beginning. I would change it so riggers get a drone and just the pistol or the machette so you don't lose access to the drone in the second scene.

how long is it?

Is there *supposed* to be a huge sequence when you first jack in with a bunch of NPCs running around in the dark buffing each other? My game has been stuck like this for like five minutes and I just hear magic sounds in the darkness.
Samuel Varg 19 Mar, 2016 @ 5:15am
I hope this is till in the making. Great first missions and good story. I really want to play this game to finish.
apostrophejj 16 Sep, 2015 @ 3:05am
Great mission!
A shadowrun, in various steps (get info, get crew, get info in matrix) to achieve the greater end, stealing from a megacorp. Fine immersion in the Shadowrun universe! I'm diving in the theme to write my own mission, and mods as these are great for me.
Interesting characters to hire.
Well done maps, with the right craft put into them.
There are bugs but structurally it's excellent. No buzzkills here.
4/5 for me. A must have mod.
bluepixievil 15 Sep, 2015 @ 4:07am
I found this completely unbalanced and deleted it. You can't get ast the intro unless a samurai or rigger, which then means you have to use the npc decker. He is simply not good enough for the first matrix run and gets consistently trounced by ther vast and increasing number of enermies.
Sevrin 6 Apr, 2015 @ 4:38pm
And another bug I found.
On the docks while you have to fight it seems either the blood brothers or the haloweeners, if you choose to fight the halloweeners and then lure them over to the blood brothers, the fight with the halloweeners ends, you gain karma, and then you're suddenly fighting the blood brothers.
Sevrin 6 Apr, 2015 @ 4:06pm
I've noticed a big problem that seems to happen over and over. While not in combat it will still treat the game like it's in combat. If you're on a map where an NPC is moving (for example right after you jack out at your own house and Bones starts walking around) every time you move you lose control of your character and have to wait for the NPC to stop moving to start moving again, but often that will take a very long time. It made it nearly impossible to do anything once Bones started moving.
While in the shadowrunners bar, there's an optional quest that says you should get to know the shadowrunners, yet it doesn't seem optional as you can't continue without doing it. Even after exhausting all the dialogue options with all the characters in the bar however I still didn't get the optional quest (some of the dialogue was left untouched until after I hired them, specifically the things that sounded kinda douchey to say.)
Cloud-Yo! 17 Jan, 2015 @ 7:48am
Im stuck with not being able to get sleaze to interact with the jack point in my safe house...I keep running around the mission marker and nothing happens, not being a Decker Im stuck there. I have hired, Sleaze, Kage, and The dwarf Rigger. My character is a combat mage. Thanks
Milunay 7 Jan, 2015 @ 6:54am
Ambernya, it's doable if you haven't put any decking point in your character, Sleaze take his role. The matrix part is hard indeed with these hig HP ennemy. Supression is critical 6 turn after 6 to not have the black ice mobs.
But I've enjoyed it ! End of the part after arrive in the Blood building, too bad. ;)

PS : It's required to not attack Hallowers before the quests are available, if not they cannot be done.
ambernya 7 Dec, 2014 @ 4:10am
If you are not a decker, the first matrix mission is just too hard and not in the "enjoyble hard" way. I have an elf decker with me, but anyway he can't run with me. Very disappointing.
Belgarath 28 Oct, 2014 @ 3:21pm
muy bueno
sagitarius 9 Oct, 2014 @ 11:12pm
Contrary to some other coments I like the design and the dialogs very much. Great job! I also like the NPC pictures, inovative and fresh. But difficulty is really too hard. Yes, each level is doable once you have restarted it five or six times, learned where the dangers lurk, what strengths and weaknesses your enemies have and were able to put together a strategy to counter each of them. But it is really frustrating to have to do this each and every level. In PnP Shadowrun you don't have this option. You just have one shot! Yes, you get wasted if you run around ill prepared, but enforcing new characters you should turn down the heat a notch or two. It would make the whole experience a lot more entertaining!
Heretical Toaster 6 Aug, 2014 @ 8:24pm
I just finished hiring runners for the second mission but when I left the bar they did not come with me. I went to the cyber deck in my apartment thinking that would start the mission and then they would show up but all that happened was I went into combat mode with no enemies around and no runners at my side. I am now stuck in an unplayable game.
dastevens0 3 Jul, 2014 @ 8:02pm
Just finished content so far. Very well done. Enjoyed a lot. Looking forward to playing the remainder. I'd recommend Street Samurai (Troll) for survivability. The 1st matrix run and the dock fights (halloweeners) were tough but doable. I did notice when i killed the halloweeners in the docks district, i got messages for getting one (1) karma for finishing them for the blood brothers, and one (1) karma for the dock workers, but i didn't receive any karma. Other that that, very well done. Please keep up the great work. I remember this module fondly from back in the day.
ErisENTROPY 17 Apr, 2014 @ 6:13pm
I enjoyed it, but it ended so quickly. :\ Just as I was getting into the plot.
Dr FrenkiP 24 Mar, 2014 @ 4:01pm
Is a complete story or just a demo?
RockNRoller 16 Mar, 2014 @ 11:14am
Anyone figure out how to use Sleaze to do the initial decking mission in the Safehouse? The decking icon isn't clickable
[E] Mara Jade 15 Mar, 2014 @ 12:25pm
Hard to get very far into this one, as I really didn't enjoy the dialouge options. So many times I would only have one way to respond to people, and I ended up saying things that a character of mine would NEVER say. And things that it doesn't even make sense for a character of my stats to say, either.
If I have Etiquette: Shadowrunner, I sholdn't be acting like I don't know drek about it...
Blockhause  [author] 13 Mar, 2014 @ 3:55pm
I have tried to balance it to be tough but attainable :). You will have to know how to play your character and yes of course a particularly string of nasty bad luck can spell certain doom. I'll complete it yet but I have a different challenge at the moment on my plate.
Zane Grey 12 Mar, 2014 @ 4:08pm
Fortunately the engine allows an easy mode. Admittedly, I'm so reluctant to do this, I've never tried. I don't entirely know what it really does. On some of these UGCs, it's not that we want an easy mode. Possible is easy enough.

I don't know what it is. Something about the story and setup of this one made me keep trying. So it is possible and feels rewarding on the later levels. I look forward to the completion.
Blockhause  [author] 12 Mar, 2014 @ 2:42am
HI Jouster. I am afraid that the Drone Bug is just something random from the engine I cannot fix.Random hits killing you is just bad luck. It's a tough difficulty to be sure, but you can crank down to easy if you want easy.
JousterL 10 Mar, 2014 @ 2:24pm
Kept running into bugs and poor design decisions from the start.

First: Shotgun enemy in the first section? Was unlucky, got killed before I could even get a shot off.

Second: The drone the game gives you at the start is horribly bugged. It disappeared from my weapon list when I entered the warehouse, and I didn't get it back until I unlocked the third weapon slot. Then I stored it and tried to bring it back, and it said I didn't have the required datajack.

It has potential, but the bugs need to be fixed to make this playable.
Zane Grey 27 Feb, 2014 @ 12:54am
Hard. A lot to ask of someone while enforcing a new character. I died fleeing the Halloweeners on the first mission. The engine tends to register all my attacks as misses, while granting enemies criticals. HBS has counteracted this system by reducing difficulty, something most UGCs seem reluctant to do.

The matrix run was equally hard, as many previous commentors agree. I had to rewind all the way back to the loft to juggle karma expenditure. After a third attempt, somehow, my decker got through to the end.

The story is one of the best around, and every one of the hireable runners have lovable qualities. Thumbs up on this one.
Lewiser 5 Feb, 2014 @ 2:21am
I like this campain too but I also can't get the hired decker into the matrix and have to run it myself
schwarcz.kaiser 31 Jan, 2014 @ 1:08pm
Nice campaing. You got keep working on it. It has a great potential.
Some bugs must be fixe. In the safehouse, I could not use de decker I hired to enter the matrix. So I had to do the job myself. I made it. But it what the point in hire a better decker if I cant use it?
valium 20 Jan, 2014 @ 10:46pm
Knight Errant node matrix section was too much. Enemies go right for the assassin ESP and it dies in 1 hit. If you take it slow, even with suppression every time it cooled down, you wont make the optional objective in time, and if you speed up, you die in 1 turn.
jku 4 Jan, 2014 @ 4:35am
Unplayable here: the quest marker for decking Knights Errant never becomes clickable (no Sleaze, but my character is a decker and has a deck).
Brakian 2 Jan, 2014 @ 8:42pm
I am also experiencing the same bug thelebk described.

I completed the Matrix run, but triggered the KE attack on the safehouse. I killed all the KE team, but I'm now stuck in turn-based mode and cannot continue.

This is in addition to the fact that I did not hire Sleaze, but he is still active after my team finishes their turns. After ending Sleaze's turn, it can take 3-5 minutes for the Neutral turn to finish, allowing my team to continue to their next turn.
Brakian 30 Dec, 2013 @ 7:56pm
Couple of things I noticed:
- If your PC has a non-zero decking skill but no deck, you can't slice the Knight Errant node. I am not sure whether or not you're able to leave your safehouse to go get cash to buy a deck and programs.
- If you have a ESP active when you log out or jack out of the Knight Errant node, you have to wait for several minutes to leave the Matrix.
- When you leave your apartment after the Knight Errant run, the encounter with the Knight Errant troubleshooters takes forever.
Guy McPants 26 Dec, 2013 @ 7:36pm
I wanted to like it, but after playing random number generator roulette during the escape from the first mission as a mage five or six times, I have to say this UGC is in serious need of some rebalancing. I love a challenge and can't stand the watered-down difficulty of most games these days, but this is a little much.
Blackout 24 Dec, 2013 @ 6:24am
The first decker mission is unplayable due to the overwhelming amount of enemies.
Lagunatic 17 Dec, 2013 @ 10:47pm
I really enjoyed this. It felt so Shadowrunny.
Stupid Snake 12 Dec, 2013 @ 2:20am
If I jack out of the Matrix with Sleaze, or die there, the game basically sits on an Enemy Turn forever. Nothing I can do about it. Just thought I should let you know.
DiomedesRex 25 Nov, 2013 @ 6:36pm
Bug reports!

1)
If you jack out of the Matrix with NPCs still inside, the game makes them run around like idiots. Every turn. 5 turns per meatspace turn. Which means you have to wait 5 minutes every time you hit 'End Turn' in meatspace. Change their algorithms so they just End Turn whenever you're not jacked in.

2)
I killed the Halloweeners and they wouldn't let me in to the Blood Brothers hideout. Had to shoot my way in.

3)
Sometimes my support mage couldn't cast Mana Ball? Not sure what was u
DiomedesRex 25 Nov, 2013 @ 6:36pm
Review:

That first encounter is pretty rough, and doesn't serve much of a purpose.

Overall difficulty for the whole scenario: hard, but not too hard.

Gameplay Suggestion:
Why not make the 2nd big Matrix node optional? Like, 100% optional. If your character is a Decker, then you and Sleaze can breeze to the 2nd node while making it a hard fight in meatspace. If your character isn't a Decker, you don't get the bonus goodies, but will do better in meatspace. Otherwise you end up having to balance the Matrix around only have Sleaze, which is lame: there's no bonus benefit to being a Decker.

p with that.
Bronko 24 Nov, 2013 @ 5:23am
Feel the same about the matrix mission. Even with suppression every 6 turns and both programs. Once you lose the assassin you either run out of time till black ICE spawns or you just get killed by a charged white ice shot hitting you for 100...
IMO you have to remove 1 or 2 white ICE per room... otherwise this is just frustrating...
B&WHS| ♥♥♥♥ Bill Gates 10 Nov, 2013 @ 8:42am
I was pretty enthusiastic about running through some UGC, and yours started off well, but it didn't take long to run into issues.

The first "Real" mission; hire some help and go do some hacking. Sounds easy enough, but once I was in, the enemy defenses tore through Sleaze like a fat, unemployed woman through a family sized bag of Doritos. Even with both programs summoned, the shield and assassin, once I walked over to the right, I was swarmed by overwhelming forces.

To me that's a pretty depressing outcome, I don't feel like trying something over and over again, hoping to see "Missed" over his head just enough times to have him somehow survive a SINGLE area.

Maybe just me, but it feels a lil bit too difficult.

Be strong.
lloyd 7 Nov, 2013 @ 12:32am
There's an issue immediately prior to the Matrix run. Sleeze is on my team, however my PC happens to have a non-zero decking skill (but no deck). The result is that the game thinks that the PC is supposed to be the one to make the run, but can't on account of having no deck (and if they did have a deck, they'd get sliced and diced due to low skill and insufficient funds for enough gear). The game should provide an option for Sleeze to make the run if the PC doesn't meet the criteria to do it. (And probably should give the option of Sleeze making the run if he's in the party whether the PC has the pre-requisites or not.)
thelebk 1 Nov, 2013 @ 8:12pm
*** Devastating BUG ***
In the knight errant hack in the home the full alert goes off just after defeating the IC and DLing the access to Bellvue. (The IC have too many HP and are not properly balanced to a starting decker so it takes forever to clear a board) Shortly thereafter the system goes on full alert before exiting. An over the top number of black ice spawn and attack with double initiative but every hit does nothing. Then it switched to meat space and you move your runners tactical expecting an attack. Next thing you know you have a turn menu for Sleaze only (who was not hired) and the game hangs. You see blue matrix like shadow models in the lower left hand corner of the tileset below the Doctors area of a Knight Errant strike team and your contacts and henchemen. I suspect this is supposed to be an out of bound developer area. Game hangs have to restart.
