Ok! Now that makes sense. I hadn't searched the spirit realms. I was so used to them being not having secrets in the regular game. Thank you, Smoke39:)
Smoke39  [author] 14 Jul, 2021 @ 2:31pm
Each of the 2 spirit realm areas in Atsilv Gulf has a secret, and there's 1 more in Primordial Vale.

The hub isn't a formal secret. I'm not at liberty to say anything more. :cozyhitman2:

Well, I'm still having trouble with the secrets. I have scoured all the levels with noclip engaged- and only could find 20 secrets, however there is an odd spot in Atsilv Gulf that doesn't trigger as a "secret," but is a big one. In my counting, there's 4 secrets in Ravaged Labyrinth, 3 in Arcane Temple, 3 in Atsilv Gulf, 1 in Jungle Sanctuary, and 9 in Primordial Vale (Primordial Vale is missing a secret it has in its standalone mod. That makes 20 secrets, altogether. And then there's this odd place in Atsilv Gulf that is up on the ridge overlooking the magma pit. There's a ladder leading up to a cave that's closed by a stone door. I couldn't see a way to get through, even after beating the map and finding all the secrets, and then returning, nor can I get to this area after finishing the last map. It's some kind of central hub to all the levels. There's friendly dinos and futuristic tech. Please explain. Would appreciate more insight. Thank you.

Thank You DoomMarine23 and Smoke39. I got it! Now I wonder how many other games implement this trick with the jump. It's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing that video explaining it.

Also in response to your issue with the jump, Smoke39 is right. You need to do either a strafe jump, or jump right after falling off a ledge, as you have around half a second to jump after walking off an edge.

I do apologize about the jump however, I was low on time, and looking back at it, I should have made it easier by giving you a visible platform to jump towards. I will produce a quick video to help you out.
DoomMarine23  [author] 13 Jul, 2021 @ 2:05pm
Smoke39 asked our group and BP tallied up the total secrets. There is 23 secrets across the entire campaign.
Smoke39  [author] 13 Jul, 2021 @ 1:09pm
There are two ways to extend your jump:
1. after walking off a ledge, there's about half a second during which you can still jump in mid-air;
2. running diagonally (forward + strafe) allows you to move faster.

My map has one secret. Not sure about the others; I'll poke 'em on Discord.
pawnset 13 Jul, 2021 @ 11:50am
Also, how many secrets are in each map- and how does one find out? Is there something to type into the prompt command that will show the number of secrets in a level?
pawnset 13 Jul, 2021 @ 11:19am
Having some trouble with Ravaged Labyrinth. I hope I can get a response from DoomMarine23. This is a common problem I've had with some of the mods- there are long distance jumps I don't see how is possible. I see others have run into this issue too. Ravaged Labyrinth has a shotgun, impossible to reach, but one invisible platform halfway in the gap between the platform with the ladder and the platform with the shotgun- even still can't reach the platform.
DoomMarine23  [author] 7 May, 2020 @ 9:36pm
Hi Azza, I am sorry to respond so late. If I don't hear back from you in a few days, I'll send a friend request because your comments are disabled :).

I have just tested, and it still launches and plays the maps just fine for me. Can you please tell me if there was any error messages or what occurred with your game?

Finally, are you using any other mods? I have tested mods like new weapons and such, and they usually work, but sometimes other mods cause conflicts.

Blueray 20 Apr, 2020 @ 1:33pm
Hey the pack isn't working for me anymore as of the most recent update.
DoomMarine23  [author] 23 Mar, 2020 @ 9:26pm
Thanks for the great feedback, Abaddon! I do agree that I made Ravaged Labyrinth a bit wild. I was running low on time and I was thinking of making a remastered version someday.

I'm glad you enjoyed all of our maps. We do plan on another Map Jam, as well as other individual mods, including stuff for Turok 2.
Abaddon 25 Feb, 2020 @ 11:28am
Primordial Vale is, without a doubt, the best one of the five levels (though I enjoy playing all of them). I like its difficulty, how many different paths there are and how it's structured. It's gigantic, looks visually appealing and rewards you well for finding a new path or a secret. It's easy to say that it's probably the best community made level ever. Very good job!

Either way, it's nice to see that there's a map jam for this game, though I wonder if there will either be more for this game or perhaps one for Turok 2 in the near future. I can't say it often enough, but good job to everyone.
Abaddon 25 Feb, 2020 @ 11:28am
Arcane Temple is less tense, but way more appealing to look at. I love the design, there are not all too many enemies which makes it enjoyable to clear out the level. The beginning part is also great. I don't have much else to say about this level. It's really well done!
Abaddon 25 Feb, 2020 @ 11:28am
Atsilv Gulf is an interesting one. Getting ambushed by a pile of bugs that can't be killed was certainly a surprise and I like the concept of having to avoid them. There's a lot of cool parts about that level, but unfortunately the amount of platforming you have to do in this level holds it back. It's too long and repetitive and I feel like it's not worth the rewards at times. Otherwise I like the design and the concept. Not bad.

Jungle Sanctuary. Small, short, relaxing. Good design, fun platforming for the secret on top, but that's already it. It's really well designed, at least.
Abaddon 25 Feb, 2020 @ 11:27am
Alright, time for a bit of feedback on each level.
I like the kind of situation you're put in at the beginning of Ravaged Labyrinth, making you rely on using your bow or your knife before getting any other weapons. It also helped me practice to perform a strong bow shot (the one you can do when drawing the bow for exactly 2 seconds). A good chunk of enemies, good design, great atmosphere and overall a pretty fair level. The end of it is kinda.. how should I put it? Chaotic. This shouldn't be negative feedback, but it's not really good for someone who plays the level for the first time, as they get surprised by too many attacks at the same time, though that's really just a minor complaint I have. Nothing too major. At least there's something in there that makes it easier to clear the room (won't say more because that'd take away the surprise).
DoomMarine23  [author] 26 Sep, 2019 @ 5:02pm
Hey guys, Just wanted to say I appreciate your feedback and I'm super happy you both enjoyed it. Sorry that the big robot boss had a lack of ammo, I've been intending to do an update for Ravaged Labyrinth and add in some detail and better balance.

I promise you that we have a lot more in store for the Turok community. This won't be the last time you see work from us :)
<color 1, 0.898, 0.42>Donar 12 Aug, 2019 @ 3:27pm
Love to see new maps for my childhood game, i played the maps with the NG graphic mods and it worked fine. It is like a mini campaign going through all the new levels. Somehow the enemys at the end of Atsilv Gulf didnt fight for me. I really wanted to explore that junge on this map though!

Yea i guess Primordial Vale is the solidest of the maps but i enjoyed the other maps aswell, guess the emotional nostaligic makes me enjoy nearly every mod here, love it. The part with the big robot in Ravage Labyrinth was challenging with so low ammo but it is doable! ;)

I think this mod is really worth playing! Keep on guys i want more levels! I would make a few levels for my own but the editor is just too complicated at this moment, maybe there are a few Youtube videos.

Cheers!

Wow! A lot of fun, thank you all for your creative efforts, hope to see more someday.

Glad you enjoyed it Komen
Komen 22 Jul, 2019 @ 12:58pm
Just beat it, absolutely loved all these maps! :cleandino:
Blueray 21 Jul, 2019 @ 11:04am
Just finished Primordial Vale.

I don't wanna put the others down, I want them to be inspired to do better.
Badger  [author] 20 Jul, 2019 @ 5:10pm
Thanks for the input!

Primordial Vale does seem to be the best, I'd have to agree. Some of these are the first maps for some of these mappers though, and not everyone had time on their side to make an epic map like Vale, so please keep that in mind too, don't raise the bar too high for Turok maps or people might not think they'll ever make that bar. :lunar2019coolpig:
DoomMarine23  [author] 20 Jul, 2019 @ 1:26pm
Hi Azzalack, I am glad you enjoyed the pack and I appreciate your feedback.

I made the first map you played, and I agree that it wasn't super pretty. I was running out of time, so I just focused on the gameplay and layout. I am going to be updating my map in a week or so with more detail and balance changes.
Blueray 19 Jul, 2019 @ 8:23pm
P2: The sanctuary is calm, serene, and more sections like it after the action, meant to explore, platorm, and puzzle solve, would be balling as hell for an adventure-themed level-pack or interconnected set of levels. The last level straight up slays the original game and the other mods I've played for Turok thus far and is now the benchmark for new Turok mods. Overall, a 7 out of ten with a progressive increase in quality and an (as of time of writing) 8/10 last level.
Blueray 19 Jul, 2019 @ 8:23pm
P1: The first level was pretty basic, with some neat tricks like the raptor den at the beginning, but it follows a boring theme (the catacombs); the second level has some interesting design that actually used the theme well with the (SPOILERS AHEAD) underground city. It made up for the first level. The third level needed to lose the lava-hopping to nowhere. As far as being part of a campaign is concerned, it's fine to have so many tokens, but only having a scant few rewards really does this segment of the level in for me. I actually liked the Jungle Sanctuary and that it linked back to the village at the end of the previous level; the exit should have been an invisible portal and the back of that trail NEXT TO the portal pad rather than a portal pad itself, with trees forming a thickly clustered path hinting to the next level.

Thank you, Curry, Riccardo, and Scotty! I am glad you all enjoyed them.

curry 7 Jul, 2019 @ 6:16pm
Great Maps, Really had to think outside the box at some parts.
DoomMarine23  [author] 5 Jul, 2019 @ 5:25pm
Thank you Alvaro! We hope to be releasing an update in due time to fix some bugs and add in a spirit realm or two.
REDGB | GianCarco 4 Jul, 2019 @ 5:15pm
Probably the best map mod I've played so far! Primordial Vale was hard as hell to finish! I'l try again with turok + mod! Excellent job guys!
vodkins 4 Jul, 2019 @ 4:12am
P.S. Forgot to mention (if somebody interested) that i voted "Thumbs Up" and added pack to Favorites because in whole this is a very quality work. Thank you again for it, will wait for more.
vodkins 4 Jul, 2019 @ 4:07am
Thank you for the adequate perception of criticism! About that secret with secret jump mechanics - i suspected something like that, but i am too lazy to learn them (i suspect that player moves faster and jumps longer with knife in the hands, like is Serious Sam, but i am not sure). Also my criticism about that short map was not about "unreacheable" secret, but about the size and whole point of map with such (deathmatch) size.
Badger  [author] 3 Jul, 2019 @ 1:20pm
@vodkins Learn to jump :tgrin:
Naw just kidding, thank you for the review, because without critical reviews like these we cannot make better maps the players like.
Smoke39  [author] 3 Jul, 2019 @ 11:53am
You can reach the upper floor, it just requires in-depth knowledge of Turok's movement. That's what makes it a secret .
vodkins 3 Jul, 2019 @ 8:21am
4. That short level without enemies (or there was somebody?) - too short and pointless. You can reach the top with portal very easy, but can't reach that secret upper floor nearby. I am not a tricktser jumper - i tried 10 times, get bored and goes away to portal. Maybe if this level was used as some kind of Boss arena - that could give it some good point?
And maybe the most cause that all those level are looks not so good for me - only in compare with awesome last level. The difference between last and all previous levels is too noticeably. And please don't thinks that i wanted to insult your or scold your work. Not at all! You all did a great job for sure! I like Map Jams in Q1 and seeing this type of maps in Turok is a great idea! Make more and in quality near Primordial Vale:steamhappy: Thank you again for you work and sorry for my bad English...
vodkins 3 Jul, 2019 @ 8:21am
2. Boring parts - i was bored in some locations in all 3 first levels. Especially in Temple level in flying pyramids dark location - you can fall down without any reason. Also that lava arcade jump madness in Gulf level was extremely boring for me.
3. Only one part i can call stupid - that laval bunny jumping without any point or reason. I lost 2 lives jumping on those island only to face some useless pickups - nothing really important to sacrifice healt and lives there. This is stupid for me. I was angry and used cheats to finish that part. This type of challenge is not for game where you can't save at any moment. This is just not fun...
vodkins 3 Jul, 2019 @ 8:20am
Hi DoomMarine23! I will try to explain... I am not saying about other whole levels, but about some parts of them. And of course this is all my IMHO. Let me start in order:
1. Unbalanced part - Labyrinth level when i was in situation without ammo at all, with only knife against many enemies. This is the first level in the pack but enemy count is not for 1-st level. At least give more ammo or weapons for that enemy count and types.
DoomMarine23  [author] 2 Jul, 2019 @ 2:17pm
Hi Vodkins, I am sorry you don't like the other levels. What parts were unbalanced, boring, or stupid? Maybe we can make them better.
vodkins 1 Jul, 2019 @ 1:16pm
Primordial Vale is a masterpiece! Probably the best Turok level i have ever played! So huge, so complicated in the best ways, so interesting! Trully old-school! Other levels in this pack are average and even lower quality imho. Some unbalanced, boring and even stupid parts. One is too short to take it serious... Anyway, huge thanks you guys for the very first Map Jam in Turok. Will wait for the next one!!!
Badger  [author] 1 Jul, 2019 @ 12:51pm
Mod updated so Turok+ works now Alicord :floppy:
Badger  [author] 1 Jul, 2019 @ 10:32am
Smoke just updated Turok+ today, and the map jam has to be updated to be compatible again, i think. :tshock:
Aliko 1 Jul, 2019 @ 10:24am
It only seems to happen with Turok plus
Aliko 1 Jul, 2019 @ 10:15am
well the portal at the end takes me to the next level, but then immediately warps me back to the beginning of ravaged labyrinth. But after that I also get shot up above the level after going up the stairs again after teleporting.
DoomMarine23  [author] 1 Jul, 2019 @ 10:09am
Hey Alicord, can you tell me what issues you're having?
Aliko 1 Jul, 2019 @ 9:26am
The portal at the end of Ravaged Labyrinth is breaking for me.
Sire 27 Jun, 2019 @ 9:08pm
Really cool idea, can't wait to play these.
Black Jaguar Gamer 26 Jun, 2019 @ 1:59pm
the most amazingly hard level :D
i also getting killed so many times but i can't give up to beat this ;)
