Still can't get over chambers like this. Thank you! 9.5/10!

This is a great puzzle. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to separate the two rooms with glass instead of opaque walls. I was completely lost at first and had no idea what to do for quite a while. Still, very nice puzzle!

Really slick mono logic, well done!
StackSmasher789 2 Mar, 2024 @ 11:24pm
Literally 2 portal surfaces but still took an hour to figure out. Really satisfying once you solve it though. Would've been nice to have a button at the end to open the exit since I ended up with the cube near the exit anyways.

@CostBubbles Your feeling is right! Very impressive though, I must admit :cozycrashfish:

I have a feeling this wasn't the intended solution

Solve 1: I threw the cube out the exit. I wanted to use the piston platform, because it would time correctly, but it's too high off the ground. I also tried the reflector panel, which didn't quite give me enough time without lighting fast cube manipulation.

Haven't given up on the actual solution, and I have another idea, but implementing it is tough.

This is damn good.
masaltzero 21 Jun, 2023 @ 11:17pm
bro that last move was diabolical, i have a permanent headache
Mr Fab 7 Feb, 2023 @ 4:05am
This one was unique ! The fact that you can't reach the other room without going through the portal is really cool
JiggleYourJerkyMrTurkey 28 Apr, 2022 @ 4:01pm
@Mikeastro Very interesting! I never realized that you could fix that glitch in that way. Usually I rely on a BeeMod function that fixes that glitch, but that can come with it’s downsides. (Also, yes lol, I did use noclip, but only after I had finished the map)
Mikeastro  [author] 28 Apr, 2022 @ 3:18pm
@JiggleYourJerkyMrTurkey Thank you! Excellent work solving it :D Glad you enjoyed it. Also, it sounds like someone has been using noclip haha. That hidden funnel is there for technical reasons:
Laser cubes can sometimes start floating in midair when they are redirecting a laser and the floor beneath them is removed. It's a silly glitch, but it could cause softlocks / exploits in this map because the logic is so subtle. For some reason, reversing the funnel polarity makes the game ''update'' all laser cubes, thus making floating cubes fall. I believe in this map, every time the autoportal changes place, the funnel is reversed as well (maybe with a second of delay), hence preventing any cubes from ever levitating and ruining the fun :]
JiggleYourJerkyMrTurkey 28 Apr, 2022 @ 2:34pm
Excellent puzzle! I loved the concept of a single portal that can take you between rooms, and the solution was very clever. (Also, just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the random funnel between the rooms?)

Super neato mappo
Mikeastro  [author] 12 Oct, 2021 @ 11:53pm
@DiDo Killer! Thank you! That's indeed what I had hoped to achieve with this one :] Excellent work solving it, it's quite sneaky
DiDo Killer! 12 Oct, 2021 @ 7:03pm
I like it when I think "what is the most awesome thing you could do with this?" and then I try it and ends up being the solution :]

@BehindPortal Thank you very much :D Glad you enjoyed it!

great puzzle. i really like the idea behind portal switch. fav:p2cube:
Mikeastro  [author] 12 Nov, 2020 @ 3:04pm
@Aneonen Thanks a lot! That is indeed an important realisation. Excellent work solving it :D
Aneonen 12 Nov, 2020 @ 2:47pm
Great puzzle! Clicked once I saw that there was only one plausible player-action while standing at the rising platform.
RazorLaser 22 Oct, 2020 @ 12:06pm
Yeah thanks Mikeastro I reportalled when I was getting the lightbridge with the laser a few times when I should have just left the portals so that is why it killed me and I went into the goo a few times, anyways good map.
Mikeastro  [author] 22 Oct, 2020 @ 11:53am
@DeathWish808 Thanks a lot for the video! It was very interesting to watch :D
@zul33 Thank you! I'm very happy to hear that you liked it. Excellent work solving it so fast! It's not easy to see the solution :]
@Crazy Attack371 Thank you very much for the video as well! I'm sorry the map killed you so many times, but you found the solution super quickly, excellent! I'm glad you liked it
RazorLaser 22 Oct, 2020 @ 10:01am
Processing is done now so you can check it out.
RazorLaser 22 Oct, 2020 @ 9:59am
This map had a cool little concept I liked it a lot, here is my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ2v85g6XaQ , video is still processing at the moment though, I also failed a few times as well lol, nice map.
zul33 22 Oct, 2020 @ 8:44am
Really nice chamber :) i enjoyed it a lot. Got pretty fast what I had to do but failed on doing it :D
DeathWish808 21 Oct, 2020 @ 6:11pm
Saw nock post this on YT, so I had to play it before watching his video. I thought it was a new map, but in the end, I was wrong as usual. LOL
Thumbs up, faved, and Mad Scientist award. ;-)

this is a super clever idea, i love it
i give you an award for this ;)

@Spacekitty Thank you :D I'm glad you enjoyed it in the end. Good luck with that monster...
SpKi 2 Jul, 2020 @ 1:40pm
Welp, I just decided to replay this map. For some reason I never went back to find the intended solution until now but it's actually really elegant considering it's such a small space. I think I'll give that a favorite. I need to prepare myself for Isotope :p

@asears16 Thank you so much :D I'm really glad you liked this one. Your video was very interesting to watch - you solved it completely intended! Side note: also thanks for recommending my maps to Viintage :]
asears16 21 Feb, 2020 @ 5:28pm
This was an amazingly clever little map! One of my favorite maps of 2020 thus far. :D

@zorth I like your tentative phrasing for your 'possibly' unintended solution xD But yeah, I guess with enough patience that is possible. Thanks for pointing it out, but I don't think I'll fix it. Your intended solution was indeed intended, but instead of putting the two cubes close to each other on the light bridge, you could also have simply stacked the cubes, or place the regular cube on the elevated part of the floor in the way of the laser. I noticed that the reflected laser was invisible in your videos. That is pretty peculiar...

Yeah, you also posted pictures of the other side so it's not like there's no warning. It didn't really hurt the puzzle that much. Great work:winter2019happyyul:
Mikeastro  [author] 10 Feb, 2020 @ 2:24pm
@Determinated Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Admittedly, the first move is a bit hard to see because you do not yet know what lies on the other side of the portal. But then again, there is only one thing the player can do at all, so they'll find it soon enough :P
Dire Domino 10 Feb, 2020 @ 1:39pm
Very clever! I was a bit confused at first but I really enjoy how clever this is. I wish there would have been timer signage with the piston and I also wish that it would be clear that a lightbridge would be on the other side of the monoportal. Other than that the puzzle was very cool and the aesthetics were great.
Mikeastro  [author] 8 Feb, 2020 @ 3:38am
@Spider_Dawg Thank you very much! I couldn't agree more about your remarks about puzzle size. I'll let you know which maps finished higher in the contest once the results are out :)
Spider_Dawg 1 Feb, 2020 @ 10:04am
Deceptively difficult. That first trick took me a while, mainly because of the limited time in which to pull it off, which had me doubting it was the correct move. The final setup took some trial and error before figuring it out. I really like how this map proves that a chamber doesn't have to be humongous to have several clever concepts, and make the player spend most of their time running around. I certainly want to check out any puzzles that finish higher in the contest, as they must be super-duper-spectacular!
Mikeastro  [author] 1 Feb, 2020 @ 4:48am
@bullfrog The panel moves too fast for the laser to hit the cube if it sits far enough from the portal, but with the cube close to it, it's slow enough to briefly work
bullfrog 1 Feb, 2020 @ 2:57am
How did you prevent it as it looked like it should have worked?
Mikeastro  [author] 1 Feb, 2020 @ 2:48am
@bullfrog Thank you! And yeah, that would have been an interesting solution, but I prevented it because it felt a tiny bit too creative :P But maybe I'll use that concept some other time :)
bullfrog 1 Feb, 2020 @ 1:50am
Excellent, I love it, definite thumbs up. As an aside, I worked out what ‘state’ I need things to be when in exit area and was sure I had the answer: laser cube on light bridge pointing at catcher, weighted cube on angled panel button, go to exit and re-spawn weighted cube so laser sweeps across the laser cube which momentarily activates the catcher, shame that didn’t work, I thought that would have been a fine solution lol.
Mikeastro  [author] 25 Jan, 2020 @ 3:02am
@consopdemi Thanks for playing. I would like to invite you to take a look at one of the solution videos mentioned in the description
consopdemi 24 Jan, 2020 @ 9:25pm
this isn't possible
Mikeastro  [author] 24 Jan, 2020 @ 2:08am
@maggot.macdonald Oh you threw it into the exit door? xD Clever, I should move the exit away a block, thanks. I'm glad you liked the intended solution as well
maggot.macdonald 23 Jan, 2020 @ 8:11pm
I cheesed it with a cube-toss at the end. Easily fixed by removing the fizzler at the end or changing its position. Intended solution is beautiful
DoMessWithProfile 22 Jan, 2020 @ 3:38pm
damn, they look pretty aesthetic tho
