Hello, how do I change the default values of the mod? I'm looking for the sandbox option and I'm not seeing it.
Donald McConnell 20 Jul @ 9:24pm
I did the API hotfix and was still having issues. I was ultimately able to get it installed after removing all other mods. I think that there is a compatibility issue with the "Swap It" mod. The only time i can get the SkillRecovery to work is if i have "Swap It" turned off.
Thank you for your help!

Oh, I've solved the problem.
I had added the mod to the Mods list, but I completely missed that it also needed to be included in the WorkshopItems section.
Once I added the Workshop ID there, it worked perfectly.
Thank you so much!

The dependencies are not needed for B41. The issue you're seeing is most likely the Steam issue impacting PZ (and a number of games currently).

For more information there's a thread on the PZ discord: https://discord.com/channels/136501320340209664/1393555022192709763

I am encountering a problem with enabling Skill Recovery Journal on my sever (B41). I am getting the following error on startup:
WARN : Mod , 1753038092257> 92,239> ZomboidFileSystem.loadModAndRequired> required mod "SkillRecoveryJournal" not found"
I have the workshop ID and Mod ID listed in the server config settings, I have been able to install other mods and see them in the Sandbox settings but not the SkillRecoveryJournal settings. To be safe i was able to install the dependencies for the B42 version, and that still did not help.
Really looking forward to playing with this mod!

And in-game, when you go to the escape menu, and look at the bottom right and click "mods" it is listed there?
tul90 20 Jul @ 8:00am
I'm on Build 41.
Just to be safe, I tested with only this mod, Error Magnifier, and Mod Update and Alert System enabled—no other mods were active.
Thank you for answering.

Are you on B41 or B42? Some mods that "fix" the crafting menu actually break it from refreshing. This mod adds a recipe though sandbox.

Hi! I'm trying to use the Skill Recovery Journal mod on my server, but I’m having trouble getting the “Bind Journal” recipe to appear.

I’ve enabled the mod in the server’s mod list and added it to the active workshop items. I also adjusted the related sandbox settings, and the Skill Recovery Journal section does appear in the sandbox options as expected.

In-game, I have all the necessary materials in my inventory (leather strips, twine, pen, and notebook), but the “Bind Journal” recipe doesn’t show up in the Recipes tab—even under General or Survivalist. I’ve also tried searching manually without using the filter, but still nothing appears.

I’d appreciate any help or clarification. Thanks for making such a helpful mod!

Right click the journal in your inventory to transcribe. Definitely should be in the notes for this mod.
Asura9616 18 Jul @ 7:21pm
i can craft the journal but there's no option to transcribe into journal when i search it in the crafting menu it docent appear either are there any known bugs that could cause this
SEAFOAM 18 Jul @ 11:49am
I appreciate it
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 18 Jul @ 11:26am
TranscribeTVXP, and it's a boolean.
SEAFOAM 18 Jul @ 11:11am
What is the value to edit to allow saving of skills earned by VHS and shows in SandboxVars?

thanks in advance
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 15 Jul @ 5:26am
Seems like you may have a broken recipe. The line referenced in my mod is just refreshing the crafting window.

Running a new server since my old one got fried, can't see, to see the skill journal in the sandbox settings. Anyone know a fix for this?
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 8 Jul @ 5:27am
Sorry, not really sure what you're saying. File a detailed bug report on the GitHub.

I have the mod enabled and loading last. I can transcribe into journal but there's no recipe to make a journal. Am I missing something as with all the exact same mods in the same order before it worked just fine.
furiasleon8 4 Jul @ 8:50pm
The options doesnt apear when i check the sandbox list
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 2 Jul @ 2:47pm
Doesn't appear to be.
MAEKAR_STorMBoRn 2 Jul @ 1:42pm

Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 2 Jul @ 1:21pm
Is this related to this mod?

Do you have the sandbox options set to include the recipe?

Do you use a "fix craft menu lag" type of mod? If yes, you need to load that mod first or not at all.
Lesniakotto 1 Jul @ 4:40pm
Hi friend, I have the mod downloaded and when I want to craft the book, the option doesn't appear... I don't understand, I'm not playing the most recent version.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 1 Jul @ 5:29am
No problem, and understandable to be frustrated.
miotojptx 30 Jun @ 11:03pm
@Chuckleberry Finn. Okay interesting. I'll look into that if I'm still having trouble.

I was so frustrated at the game when I wrote my comment.
miotojptx 30 Jun @ 11:02pm
@JiveBunny After writing my comment, I did find out about those things. I'm going to try again. It might be more doable than I thought.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 30 Jun @ 4:53am
Not to mention you can change the recipe in sandbox options.
JiveBunny 30 Jun @ 3:05am
Mioto, if you can't find any of the abundant leather items, sewing kits or easily acquirable thread before dying, then your character has not got enough xp to warrant wanting to transcribe the journal.

Leather strips from leather clothing and a scissors.
Thread and needles from ripping any clothing apart, or in sewing kits. They're a common item.
miotojptx 29 Jun @ 10:40pm
I think the combination of having leather AND needle threads is too rare for someone to make a skill journal before they die. Those that can live that long would probably not really need it.

So yea I'm gonna have to look for another mod for this.

With B42 I've added two libraries/tools a required mods.
Lobbyjoiner69 29 Jun @ 8:56am
when i want to choose my mods for the new playthrough in singleplayerr, recovery journal is red and X-ed out (same with the trailers Mod by the way). When i click it, on the right window it says DISABLED and i cant enable it like the others. What am i doing wrong? playing on 42.9 unstable
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 29 Jun @ 5:01am
No worries, glad the issue was resolved quickly.
Apolo 28 Jun @ 10:34pm
Fixed, it looks like it was an isolated error attributed to another mod. Thanks for the amazing mod and sorry for the mistake!
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 28 Jun @ 10:07pm
The update would not cause infinite loading issues.
Apolo 28 Jun @ 10:04pm
Yes, we already did, but it is infinitely loaded. I will try to disable the option you just added.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 28 Jun @ 10:02pm
@Apolo - Are you rebooting your server for mod updates? If it is saying there is a mod-mismatch, you need to make sure hosts and players update.
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 28 Jun @ 10:00pm
Update: Added sandbox option to configure security-protections on journal use.
1 = "Prevent Username/SteamID Mismatch"
2 = "Only Prevent SteamID Mismatch"
3 = "Don't Prevent Mismatches"
Apolo 28 Jun @ 10:00pm
Hi, my girlfriend can't enter my local server with this new update. Everything worked well so far, so I don't know what could have happened. Will the change be reversed or will there be a fix? Thank you.
Dzouk 28 Jun @ 6:51am
Very nice update, thank you for adding a username check.
EmperatrizOreo 27 Jun @ 9:43pm
GRACIAS
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 27 Jun @ 8:10pm
Yes, I got asked to add the feature to add username checks on-top of SteamID checks. This should stop cases where people were sharing journals on non-steam servers, as well as prevent using shared/alternative accounts between each other.

Since the journals checks SteamID - I assume they were keeping journals for each Steam account and sharing character passwords - at least I hope that's what they were doing cause I can't imagine how dumb you'd have to be to share your steam account password to cheat at Zomboid.
ElBabi 27 Jun @ 7:49pm
Hi, i was reading the changelog and i saw this
- Added checks for username to prevent/discourage sharing your Steam/Player accounts in order to cheat(???).
Does this mean it now checks the username provided when joining a server to know from who is the journal? Does it mean finally it can no longer be shared between players? (if the answer is no dont tell me why because that would teach people how to cheat in servers)
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 27 Jun @ 4:49pm
There's a few things that could explain what you're seeing:

- Starting levels aren't counted.
- Starting levels offer bonus XP, and this is not counted (by default).
- Some mods add XP in a way that vanilla doesn't.
- TVXP is not counted (by default).
MARGO 27 Jun @ 4:28pm
hello sir is there a fix for recovery of exp in the journal we set it to 95% but not 95% recovered, it recovered the 1st time you write in the journal exp :)
Chuckleberry Finn  [author] 27 Jun @ 11:46am
No. Your server just needs a reboot. Rolling it back would also count as an update...
