Why will this scenario not play? I have it in my favourites and I have unsubscribed and resubscribed but no play.
Pookeyhead 24 Jul, 2020 @ 2:04pm
Is any more work being done on this? If this was complete, it would be one the best routes ever!
Tallica 25 Jan, 2020 @ 3:01pm
Any updates?
alanmanno 4 Jun, 2018 @ 12:52pm

If all the scenery was present, this would be the best freeware route available without a doubt!

I've just had another run up this line on a free roam... honestly, i cannot heap enough praise on you for the work you have done on this route. It is better than most of the stuff i have paid good money for. The detail is exceptional between Carnforth and Ulverston (i was literally in tears, it really is that good)!! Further down the line there is some really stunning work, those tunnels are just awesome and the towns of Barrow and Dalton are just crazy brilliant. I would urge anyone to subscribe to this route, a work in progress it may be but it is truely awesome, even at this stage in it's development. PJT1974... you are a steeely eyed missle man. Eager for the next update...
alkaseltsa 27 Jul, 2017 @ 4:18pm
This is absolutely awesome!!! Keep it up and extend it along the coast to Sellafield, as i have Nuclear flasks currently parked at Millom (much to the distress of the residents)!!!
JB_Northern 29 May, 2017 @ 8:42am
Hi!
Hows the route going? Is there platforms at Barrow yet?

Gave this a quick run for 15 minutes or so with no problems - have recently had to do a full download/re-install of TS2017 though, but didn't buy it new, just run on the yearly updates since TS2012. Hope Phil hasn't given up on this route as it's really excellent.
Grahamandterrill 14 Oct, 2016 @ 1:37pm
Oh Dear! Why won't this fantastic route work with TS2017?
Wrongway 12 Oct, 2016 @ 4:19am
I can't seem to get this working with TS2017. It was working great with last version. Anyone else had any luck?
Michaelsoft Word 1 Aug, 2016 @ 2:03pm
Is work still happening on this?, Hasnt been updated in 8 months :'(
liverpoolgth 10 Jul, 2016 @ 4:47am
Is still being worked on - I hope so
Scouser888 9 Jul, 2016 @ 1:07pm
This is an impressive accomplishment. A very interesting route, I can't wait for it to be finished. Well done!

Quick update. Some may have noticed a few scenario coming out of my camp this week. No fear, I'm not ignoring the route, with the new harddrive and completely fresh install I've had issues getting my Google Maps API to work. It seems to be working now so work on the route will start again this week. There will be scenario's uploaded at DPSimulation in the coming weeks. Darren Porter has kindly accepted my request to host some scenario's for the route. Thanks Darren. The hard drive crash has delayed the scenario's a little, thanks for the patience.
pjt1974  [author] 5 Nov, 2015 @ 1:02pm
Thanks LtBligh. Lucky turn this last week. My harddrive decided it's had enough but just felt kind enough to run for just enough time for me to transfer the route onto disk before it completely failed. Phew!!!!! New harddrive, ready to go again.
LtBligh 4 Nov, 2015 @ 9:44am
Politics ..we get that in the real world.........the route editor much better :) I was a 'O' gauge railway modeller, now I can build as many routes as I like and keep all of them and have a great collection of rolling stock. That is what this game/sim means to me and this route is one of my firm favourites, thanks for sharing your work and I hope you continue to enjoy our hobby.
deargdoom 15 Oct, 2015 @ 7:52am
Good to hear - I sort of know the feeling, I need to get back to my model railway following doubts about whether I should go in a different direction after nearly 40 years of US based modelling - and no, I don't have a model Turbine!

Looking forward to any updates.
liverpoolgth 11 Oct, 2015 @ 5:49am
Fantastic news - Thanks once again for your great addition
pjt1974  [author] 10 Oct, 2015 @ 3:48pm
Understand the sentiment completely. I was able to take a step back and realise why I originally bought Rail Simulator way back in 2009 and why I've devoted so many hours to the sim through each incarnation, the route builder. I'm a route builder, I've logged over 4,000 hours on the sim, although you could probably triple that if you count my offline hours, and the majority of those hours have been building something and, as with all route builders, much of which never makes the light of day.
Over time, 4 finished routes have been uploaded in various places around the web plus this work in progress route. Of the completed 4, I think only one still exists somewhere, the other 3 were taken down as the sim moved on and they became obsolete and in need of a complete overhaul. So now it's time to get back doing what I enjoyed the most. I don't need Extreme snow, gas turbines or the politics of the sim when my head is stuck in the route builder, all I need is terrain, track and assets.
deargdoom 10 Oct, 2015 @ 11:20am
Thanks for deciding to continue the development of this route, but with my unselfish head on, please do it because you want to do it, not because you feel you "ought" to - otherwise it runs the risk of becoming a chore that takes up your time when you would rather be doing something else (been there, done that!). Unfortunately I can only offer moral support - I'm more a railway modeller - nuts, bolts, bits of metal and solder etc
liverpoolgth 6 Oct, 2015 @ 5:33am
Shame your not completing it as I'm from Barrow and was waiting for it being finished. Thanks for all the work you've done and I hope you do pass it on as this quaity deserves to be finished.
pjt1974  [author] 5 Oct, 2015 @ 12:28pm
Thank you for all the kind comments and support. I've had an offer from a very talented and experienced route builder to take it on. Just the very thought of letting it go has put me in two minds of what to do. Whichever way, I'll post it up in the description. Thanks again, Phil.
deargdoom 5 Oct, 2015 @ 11:44am
From my purely selfish point of view it's a pity that you're not continuing to develop this route, but I agree totally with sispys, you deserve great credit for what you have done, this is really excellent work, so thanks again.
sispys 24 Sep, 2015 @ 1:33am
Can I just say that I subscribed and downloaded your route just the other day and I totally love it! What a shame that you´re not planning any more updates to it as what you have achieved is absolutely stunning!

I´m in the process of creating a scenario which I hope to release onto UKTS in the very near future.
ThePhoenix-LXVI 20 Sep, 2015 @ 3:19am
Downloaded this route ages ago, and it only appeared in my route listing last night! So I completely forgot that I ever downloaded it. What a gem! Fantastic work, very well done, looking forward to seeing the completed project, but in the meantime Preston to Ulverston will be played an awful lot.
pjt1974  [author] 22 Aug, 2015 @ 4:38am
Many thanks. Work is slowly getting back underway to continue the route
deargdoom 5 Aug, 2015 @ 8:27am
Really impressed with this, even though I don't have the 3 scenery packs yet. I'm certainly looking forward to any updates.
RolandBP 21 Jun, 2015 @ 4:28am
Okay, Cheers and thanks.
pjt1974  [author] 21 Jun, 2015 @ 4:14am
Unfortunately, I'm unable to sign in on the 'old forums' anymore but I'll try to get the message through via a mate who post's there regular
RolandBP 21 Jun, 2015 @ 3:42am
For sure, can you let us know in the 'Old Forums' please.
pjt1974  [author] 21 Jun, 2015 @ 2:52am
Thanks for the kind comment Roland. I'm sure you and a few others may be glad that I'm back working on the route again to get a 'lite version' to Barrow completed with just the close scenery finished
RolandBP 20 Jun, 2015 @ 8:16pm
Every sceniced portion of this route has been beautifully created. I love the bridge between Cark & Carthel and Ulverston.
pjt1974  [author] 13 Jun, 2015 @ 6:03am
Back on track now hopefully. The new PC ended up elsewhere in the family and my old PC decided to take early retirement about 4 weeks ago so I lost a bit of work (maybe about a months worth) but I didn't lose too much in reality. I'm working from the most recent upload (20 Feb) now. Glad I uploaded it now, Steam Workshop is useful back up.
beans on toast 30 May, 2015 @ 10:17am
Thank you very much for this stunning route!
pjt1974  [author] 1 Apr, 2015 @ 9:33am
A quick update. Due to a serious health issue within the family, work on the route has slowed to a crawl, as you can imagine, more important things to do. Hopefully the pace will pick up again soon. My apologies for anyone awaiting the next update, it is coming ;-)
diesels 10 Mar, 2015 @ 4:25am
Did just that:)
pjt1974  [author] 7 Mar, 2015 @ 7:14am
@ Diesels. Many thanks for the kind comment. Wy don't you install the Academy again then just delete the route. That way you keep the assets but don't have to scroll through all the scenario's
diesels 6 Mar, 2015 @ 11:20pm
Aaaaah that explaines a lot. I moved the Academy folder to my backup disk as it annoyed me that in edit mode it always came up first including the whole 'folder tree' and I had to scroll the list for the routes and scenarios I want to edit while I never used the Acedemy scenarios whatsoever. Guess I have to put them back, the route is worth it big time, thanks for the heads up!
pjt1974  [author] 5 Mar, 2015 @ 9:41am
Sorry, I pressed the wrong button too quickly. The platforms for Barrow, Millom, Kirkby, Foxfield and (I think) Roose are the ones used in the Academy. I didn't list them as requirement because they should be part of the base game.
pjt1974  [author] 5 Mar, 2015 @ 9:37am
The platforms are from the Academy which should be part of the base game
diesels 5 Mar, 2015 @ 6:09am
Could you tell me where the platforms in f.e. Barrow are from? I am missing them and thought they were from one of the Marketplace packs, bought all three of them but still missing them. I have the three payware routes too
n.e.hudson 10 Feb, 2015 @ 3:39pm
Hi Phil - looking great. Been watching the progress of the build with great interest. One set of great great grandparents came from Dalton. A number of my relatives worked on the railway at various places from Barrow to Lancaster. A great uncle was the crossing keeper at Hest Bank, and another was killed by being crushed when working as a shunter at Carnforth..
pjt1974  [author] 10 Feb, 2015 @ 1:32pm
Thanks John. That is the world famous Capital Punishment Bridge. Introduced in 1844 as a means of deterant against navvies running amok in Barrow during the building of the railway. Any brawling and you got strapped to a wagon at Dalton and let to free wheel down the hill. If you weren't 10 inches shorter by the time you reached Cavandish Dock, you were found Not Guilty ;-) All true, Walter Mitty told me. A saw the engineers down there yesterday sorting it out.
Rusty Buffer 10 Feb, 2015 @ 11:16am
Excellent! Just enjoyed running a Class 107 from Barrow to Carnforth, and will be back for more. I may have - erm - slightly scratched the overbridge just before Roose on the Up line...

Your scenery is delightful, with the settlements being particularly well done (IMHO...).

Many thanks! John M
