This is a very nice taunt but I don't think i'd ever use it outside spawn. Like many people have said the setup is too long for it to be caught in the freezecam. Also in the preview the blue version still has orange clays when usually stuff like that turns yellow to match engi's hardhat and glove.

I get thats its a funny gag and all, but in what situation would you sue this, other than going afk?
Its a long ass animation, with nothing really interesting going on, except that you can show off your shotgun I guess.
It just feels a bit out of nowhere, like engie already has a bunch of afk looping taunts, it sounds rude, but this would get forgotten in like a week after they add it

Takes way too long to pop out for the kill cam. Its just friendly idle animations for trader mains showing off unusuals.

People who say this can't be used as an actual Taunt have never shot any class with mobility out of the air before. It fits with Engineer being Texan too

I feel like people only dislike it because the uses and context you can use with aren't obvious so it goes over the head as another stupid looping taunt like the Table Tantrum

For the rescue ranger and pomson you could just make it use the default shotgun.

I like the idea, but it feels weird having this be a taunt rather than an actual minigame you could play. There's also the fact that this would look kind of weird with the Rescue Ranger and the Pomson since their projectiles are VERY different from the other shotguns.

Neat idea, but it really doesn't work as a taunt.

@Mr.Poopy Pants I get the vibe you, and sadly a lot of others, don't understand why and how looping taunts on Engineer work.

Simply put; An Engineer isn't getting the kills, his sentry nest is. The taunt comes from him showing so little regard for his opponents, that the engineer himself is kicking back doing recreational things with full confidence that the enemy team can't even touch them: his taunt runs itself just as his nest does.

fits with him being tex, i used to shoot clay disks, but yeah the others are right about a lot of factors, like this is just a weird activity to have in the game, period. and also not to mention some animation quirks that need tuning, recoil and reloading and such

Its a nice animation and I like that it uses his shotguns but I feel taunts are supposed to insault the person you killed rather than having them spawn some props and goof around. This makes more sense to be for a SFM video than a move you do in game.

Here is a thought what do you think makes more sense as a taunt with this concept. Engie spawning a skeet shooter from the ground and it starts spawning disks, or Engie laughing at you pulling out a can of beer, chugging it then shooting the can with his gun.

What do you think feels more like the merc is taunting on someone?

Honestly, not bad, in character for the Engineer to spend his time doing something else with inventions when nothing's happening
One change I would make tho is make Engineer load in "training ammo" at the start of the animation, therefore shooting sound is muffled to not confuse other players
And also to not make it seem like you're wasting shotgun ammo on a taunt

Add more recoil on the animation, ESPECIALLY on that one-handed shot. It is a shotgun, after all.

To be frank, this taunt have a potential. First of all it quite expressive, utilize some kind of in-character features(Like I can imagine Engi designing this stuff for cheap and efficient moving target practice), and it has probability to some good team combos(Like some sniper's taunts can work with it) and also it provides number of nice freezecams(I hope so, because there no single demonstration of taunts that shows freezecams exactly - most of time they're getting a note in description and that all) like "I kill you that easily not because of random crit in your face but solely by practice, boy" style.
However, I'm not sure about loop, look of machine rubs me wrong way because of how clean and polished it is, length of taunt is rhetorical question and the Taunt potential is more or less niche.
Animation itself is nice, poses are cool, my verdict: 6.5/10
