@InspiriTY: yes!
InspiriTY 19 Jul @ 1:13pm
Is it safe to add the new version 1.6?
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 17 Jul @ 10:36am
@DanEBLIND: thanks bro! you make me happy with those words. I don't want to sound pretentious, but I'm amazed about how many people took this mod like it is a big deal.
It really means a lot to me!
DanEBLIND 17 Jul @ 7:45am
This really resonated with me—your point about RimWorld being a universe-blending sandbox hit me just a few days ago while playing. It honestly reframed how I see modding in this game entirely. Your work is proof that big, creative visions *can* thrive in this world.

I’ve been building a sci-fi universe and recently started using AI tools to help bring it to life. Mostly because I lack coding experience and want to learn. I totally get that AI might feel off-putting, especially to creators like you who put in real craft—I deeply respect that and hope it doesn’t come across the wrong way. Projects like this inspire me to keep going and dream bigger.

Thanks for sharing your vision—this is exciting and validating to see. o7

Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 16 Jul @ 6:11am
@deadmanreaper13: got it! gonna do it. thanks for the suggestion!
deadmanreaper13 15 Jul @ 10:46pm
maybe add some stories based on the new biomes, like a childhood growing up in a Glowforest, so they have positive mining and plant skills, and negative shooting and social due to light levels and isolation from others.
RitalinNick 15 Jul @ 3:54pm
hell yeah nigga
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 13 Jul @ 5:32pm
@Realm Imp: that's good, I'm adding it to the wip list.
Realm Imp 13 Jul @ 5:04pm
how about scaria survivor backstory where you are immune to getting scaria or has chance to go rabid/feral
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 13 Jul @ 4:57pm
@μuKnew: ohh, yes! I know how to do that. It's just I don't want to upload a new version without new content. Feels kinda lackluster. But I will wait a minute.
Let's all be friends :slimetabby:
μuKnew 13 Jul @ 4:00pm
Looked it up, seems like you can just copy the mod files from the "1.5" folder into a "1.6" folder if nothing needs changing for the update (and if it works already, it shouldn't, I would suspect). Also, add 1.6 in the about.xml under supported versions, same format as 1.5 should already be.

After that, there's a page for 1.6 updates on the RimworldWiki's modding area. I don't think I can link it directly, but it's "/wiki/Modding_Tutorials/RimWorld_1.6_Mod_Updates" after the domain.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 13 Jul @ 3:38pm
@μuKnew: ohh, how can I do it? I really don't want to update it just for the "1.6" change.
@Echowhite: thank you! it means a lot! I will never abandon it but next version it's so much important. I'm gonna send the guy I met some instructions to work into the framework for the next version right now.
@hard erect balls :3: Thank you! You can use it right now and will give you no problems. It's totally compatible with 1.6. Love you too
Echowhite 13 Jul @ 4:12am
This mod is absolutely fantastic; I wouldn't even consider playing the game without it. I'm eagerly anticipating the next update.
hard erect balls :3 11 Jul @ 6:51pm
HEY LOVE THIS MOD.. 1.6? LOVE U THX
μuKnew 11 Jul @ 8:36am
Thanks for the mod! Been using it for a while. Just wanted to remind you to tag it for 1.6 if it works, so people won't be confused.

@изнасиловал утюг
you can just translate it with deepl or any other LLM and extract translation mod,so that you can finish the work without mastering a foreign language.Though translate it might still a hard work.(Someone translated the mod into Chinese by deepseek before i complete the work, and it still cost him about 2 or 3 days due to the great amount of text)
Swarthy 5 Jul @ 7:10pm
Loved that you made references to Jecrell, Black Mirror and Love Death + Robots and expounded on your love for the game. I will now be making use of your mod my fellow RimWorld enthusiast.
(Gave you the most expensive award available, keep it up 🫂)

@ 母が犯された politics is need to be out of gamer's community:leyhappy:
If I speak russian, it doesn't mean, that i live on Russia. You need to be more loyalty to other people and don't be the nacist:coffinheart:
Evenstar 5 Jul @ 5:21am
@ 母が犯された Whilst I know you mean well, and I completely support Ukraine, there are so many Russians who do not support Putin or this invasion, so I don't think it's fair to exclude people just because of where they were born.

There are Russians all over the world who are supportive of Ukraine. It's fair enough not spending money on anything that could end up with taxes going to Putin, but it's dangerous to tar all Russians with the same brush.

Same goes for being against the IDF or Netanyahu etc, doesn't mean it's okay to be against Jewish people as a whole. Same with China, America, wherever - be against the leader, and those who support or turn a blind eye to them, but remember there's plenty of people in these nations who not only disagree but actively protest against them.

TLDR: Be against the tyrants and those who support them, not against entire nationalities and cultures. Unless it's within Rimworld, in which case I'm all for making those bandits into hats...
母が犯された 4 Jul @ 5:34am
Hey, Ostrich-Hungry! The name of the guy below means "r@ped an iron". Nevertheless, in light of current events, I think it's best not to support the implementation of the russian language in as many products as possible. It is not OK to support the culture that is currently committing genocide against another nationS (not only Ukrainian). It is not my intention to attack you personally or to force you to do anything, but it is crucial to be aware of the implications of your actions. Thanks for the mod.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 3 Jul @ 8:18am
Hey @изнасиловал утюг! (lol I have no idea what that means)
Thanks so much for appreciating the mod enough to offer localization support. It really means a lot.

Please, take no rush for a Russian translation. I totally understand it can be frustrating that I'm not actively working on all the planned features at the moment, but I want to give this project my full attention to do it. Some major improvements are coming, and they might significantly change the content.

If someone starts translating now, they might have to redo a lot of work later. I’d hate for you to waste money or time because of that.

I haven’t forgotten about the mod, and I’ll be back on it as soon as I can!

Can anybody do the russian localization pls? I will pay fo it

@Gamesense0: Thank you! I will! I'm just really reaaally busy right now, shamefully.

Wow the new DLC looks like a great fit with your mod. Especially with all the new ships
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 12 Jun @ 8:55am
Oh, 1.6 it's already avaible in the "unstable" branch. I will try it.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 12 Jun @ 8:22am
@schmidtkaffee: It should, yes. But let's see if there are any mechanics affecting backstories. I haven't seen any announced. Maybe it's better to wait for that big update before making any big changes.
schmidtkaffee 11 Jun @ 9:54pm
should work in 1.6?
Peers 3 Jun @ 5:45am
Great writing, I love more backstory lore
Yuka 2 Jun @ 5:59am
Thanks for the reply, looking forward to more updates! Will do on the suggestions part in the future.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 1 Jun @ 6:04am
@Yuka: I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT!
Trust me, I already made an update correcting almost all the "forced" disables. (you can see the changes in "change notes"). The ones I left behind make some sense or at least complement the backstory/hint of personality for that backstory.

If you have an opinion, I encourage you to put it in the "suggestions" section. I assure you that it will be read in detail, and possibly integrated into the mod.
Right right now I'm waiting to build some heavy features before making the big changes.
Yuka 1 Jun @ 2:01am
This seems really promising, but so many interesting backstories contain lots of disabled work, which is frustrating. Completely understandable that some severe backgrounds like lifelong bred killers being unable to care, but less severe backstories should maybe have less disabled work types.

People can change after all, and they have just began a new life on rimworld.
Head 30 May @ 8:01pm
Man I love this mod. Such an awesome addition to every colony!
MistyMemory 30 May @ 9:14am
Thanks for replying! Maybe I’ll try Cherry Picker to turn off that background story. Anyway, I’m really digging this mod – please keep doing what you’re doing!:sans:
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 29 May @ 2:02pm
I should make a "good" version of the Armored Division Commander mm, and change the name of that one to "disgraced" or something like that.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 29 May @ 1:56pm
@MistyMemory: Hey Misty! Well… it’s actually working as intended, lol.
Yeah, it’s annoying, but it’s a trait from "Vanilla Traits Expanded" and it behaves exactly the way it’s supposed to.

The whole point is that, even though the character is "prepared" for battle, they can’t handle the pressure of it. There are a few real-life cases like that too, and that’s the idea behind that specific backstory.
MistyMemory 29 May @ 6:28am
Hey, first off, thanks a ton for making this mod! But while playing, I noticed the Armored Division Commander’s backstory adds a “coward” trait by default. When I tested it, this actually caused attacks to glitch out or disappear randomly. Would you mind tweaking the mod to remove that part of the backstory? I’m really loving these two mods (apologies if the translation sounds weird—I had to use a translator for this)
2ScoopsPlz 27 May @ 7:18am
YES. I love making my rimworld runs a blend of wildly different universes. It's such a unique vibe that's difficult to put to words. Like even base rimworld is like that with magic, sci-fi, and western themes, (and occult if you have anomaly; love it to bits), but with modding you can keep adding to it and it just... works.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 25 May @ 12:45pm
@Realm Imp: shamefully, no. closer thing I could grant him was better "immunity" to diseases.
That one was made by @Ravinglegend. Guy really knew what he was doing, so I doubt there is a better way.
Realm Imp 25 May @ 2:50am
Does the venom soldier have buffs against poison?
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 23 May @ 8:40am
Also, for ancient players, this is absolutely needed for creating new backstories, or I have no way to differentiate those born before the time of the vaults from those born after.

Currently, you only have pre-collapse backstories. I could make a lot of post-collapse backstories that would fit amazingly good.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 23 May @ 8:30am
And well, you get the idea of where I'm going with this. But precisely because this update is going to be so big, I won’t be adding new content until I’m done with it, since It’ll basically mean a total rework.
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 23 May @ 8:30am
I have overly ambitious plans for how to make these mechanics work. If I can pull it off, many childhoods would become subcategories in their own right. There would be pawns with origins that match what they become (like jobs exclusively tied to the sea for pawns who had waterworld childhoods. Or elite military types, the crème de la crème, starting their training from childhood)

Basically:

- I could encompass all the lore of Wastelanders, Metro, and Fallout into childhoods that originate from a "radworld."

- I could make adult backstories that feel "harsh" line up with a childhood in places where that would make sense. People who aren't necessarily bad, but shaped by virtues or flaws rooted in the environments they were raised in. Like the previously mentioned world that would serve as a sort of origin similar to the Death Realms in X-Piratez (I don’t think you’ve played it, but it's basically Mad Max Australia).
Ostrich-Hungry  [author] 23 May @ 8:17am
I'm waiting to start my work with @Eragon (the creator of Rimworld Together) and see what we can archive. Hopefully we can make certain backstories be assigned only to a particular group of pawns. That way, we could have so so so many good ones that necessarily would need childhood consistency. (I can't make a Adulthood backstory about a guy who lived some glitterworld childhood and ended up in a deathworld match for survival. It's funny a few times, then it gets stupid)

I dare say the potential of this mod hasn't even begun, which is why I'm surprised so many people are paying attention to it.
