Silent Hunter III and IV took this into consideration as standard and was one of the things I missed about those old games. You could meet your quota en route and just had to reach your patrol zone and spend some meaningful time there then you could come back. Made a tour much more enjoyable if you knew where the best prey was.

Those of you complaining that it ruins your experience: You could just prioritize your assigned area if you'd prefer. I doubt a commander back then would've judged his target by if it fell within his assigned zone though.

Gameplay makes much more sense with this mod installed. Why would you not get credited for sinking a merchant on your way to your patrol sqauare in the North Sea or North Atlantic?

Excellent mod.

I was worried about this, until I discovered you can return to port as many times as you need to resupply during a patrol. That's how you can get those high tonnage achievements with the starter sub. The only thing that counts against you for this is crew fatigue, and possibly the calendar getting away from you by taking a very long time on initial missions. The mod sounds great but if you want to try a base playthrough, well, you've got options!

@spectre4evil Did you even read the mod description?

Nice mod addition for a smoother game! Have a lot of sense when going in patrol with the IIA.
Don't understand some of the comment here. No one force you to instal it.

So I can install the game... win... and I don't need to play at all. I don't understand where's the fun? Is a simulator....

Works on Drumbeat as of 04/12/25. I no longer have to skip every single contact report before reaching Florida! lol Thank you Shole. :)

I have not tested this with Drumbeat.
I will test that soon.
But I guess it's your choice to cheat or not :)

No, Drumbeat is done by sinking tonnage in specific grid squares. What I assume this mod does is allow tonnage sunk to count towards the optional objective when you go on a patrol mission. (The optional "sink X tons" objective you get when you reach your patrol grid).

So we can done Operation Drumbeat without moving to America?
It is not the playing I prefer.
