@ayser, futher testing shows if a voice got on American English 1 then it won't even use that specific mod voice packs
Tried it on Riddick, Halo Marines and i only hear American English 1

Just noticed that myself. Of the mods I have, I'm only noticing it on JC Denton where it's using American English 1 instead.

Got working now but is it supposed to use default soilder voice on some cues ? Like i pick JC Denton voice but clicking on some cues would get me either nothing or default vanila voice

i disabled most mods except for voice packs and highlander but i still can't make it work. Even start a new game but i don't get that extra panel for audio list.

I might be able to get them from a character pool that has at least the first few default voices. And a screenshot of your voice customisation screen.

@AgRipnus, i can send you the source files on discord, it's better if you take a look at them, at least you know your own code. It's not as straightforward so i can't really tell you what UCR does with the templates. You could also ask RustyDios on discord, he could help you with it.

But if you don't want to do this i understand.

I need the template name of the voices. The first voice in the base game is American English 1 with a template name of MaleVoice1_English_US I need to know what it becomes after UC renames it.

BTW you don't need to enable the mod, the source code is in the mod files so you could just download it and take a look.

The only way to get this mod working with UC is for some other mod maker who has UC to volunteer and provide me with the info I need.

Then what is the best way to fix the customization aspect for xcom? I have Unrestricted Customization redux and I really want to use voicepack test utility. Another question would be what the best approach is to first off, fix xcom by getting rid of Unrestricted Customization and then find a good alternative for Unrestricted Customization.

Any answers and tips are greatly appreciated!

On the side note, I didnt know Unrestricted Customization was very weird. I originally used Unrestricted Customization redux, only had massive lag spikes when going into the clothes options but thats about it. Had no other issues.

@Soul It's simply that it's a bad mod in file/code implementation and if you aren't going to have it permanently.

Most of the time you probably won't run into compatibility issues outside of mods that otherwise overhaul the customization stuff like with Project Dollhouse and Iridar's Appearance Manager (I think the latter might have been fixed in later updates but I'm not sure, I use IAM and not UCR)

If you plan to never uninstall it, you'll probably be fine outside of moments like with this mod.

Never knew it was such a conflicting mod (in the sense of good or bad,not as in conflicting with other mods lol),at least the redux version,it was the one I took day 1 and had on since start,so like 2 years and +780 mods in the list now. The only alternative I saw pop "recently" was project doll house but that one actually break the game and some elements just disappear on the tactical layout and menus

This is an awesome mod for testing voice packs and their quality whether you are a modder or just an average player, thank you for making it, greatly appreciated!

Also +1 to Unrestricted Customization being a bad mod. The Redux version from Rusty is an admirable effort I respect in making it the best it can be, but the original core mod is very invasive indeed.

I've installed and uninstalled it a few times over the years but completely fixing the game files after an uninstallation is terrible. I also don't trust a mod like that in a mod-list on the long term anyways. I don't like it on principle.

UC is a bad mod, with poor documentation. It is so invasive, that I don't even want to install for testing, in case it messes up my character pool. At the very least, I'd need to learn what the voice archetypes are renamed to and if it even uses the same screen I'm listening for. I'm not messing up my game to support the worst mod in the workshop.

Yeah i'm not seeing it in my game. How do i fix this ? Do i have to disable UCR or can you work around this issue somehow ?

That's what I expected. I'd need to know what the voice templates are renamed to in UCR so my mod can find them. I can't have this mod run a full template scan every time, just because UCR has renamed everything.

@AgRipnus It don't think it conflincts literally, i just wanted to say it does not work. If you enable this mod the UCR stuff still works.

I don't know. I didn't expect it to conflict with UC just not work because UC takes the voice templates and renames them to something different I don't know to make the mod check.

Might be a silly question but seeing some say it doesn't work with UC make me wonder.
Does it with UCR? I assume the ones saying UC mean UCR but you never know (I'm on phone right now so can't test till tomorrow else I would just try,but since I just saw the mod I might as well ask now lmao)

It's absolutely viable in a normal playthrough, it only affects the voice customization screen and it's a 1-3 second lag. How often do you open that?

How bad is the performance impact? Wondering if this would be viable for a normal playthrough, always disliked having to click the button a million times to get a feel for a voice pack.

I’m not sure why, but the separate preview menu isn’t showing up. I’ve tried disabling Unrestricted Customization since there’s a conflict but it still doesn’t appear after clicking preview.

Does this mod identify the voices based on their localization name? If a male and female voice has the same name, the preview uses the male voice.
