the best roundabout intersection. WOW

Thank you, great work!

small issue with line mathematik

Everyone should watch Biffa Plays Games and use lane math in their cities. This is a great roundabout when properly modified with lane math in mind and proper use of traffic manager.

This totally failed in my city, I subscribed to it after reading the comments here, but had a very different experience. It causes a lot of traffic jams with it's very short ramps.

best roundabout lol.

Even with a toll road at the end of this thing it still keeps traffic flowing. WOW.

This intersection is exactly what Im looking forward. Is there a small/compact version for connection 2 X 6 lane avenues?

Thank you SOOO much for actually making a functional interchange that can be placed almost anywhere in vanilla! ... And it doesn't take up too much space. Now I just wish you would make assets for Highway to 6 lane, T junctions for highways, and 6 and 4 lane crosing 6 and 4 lanes. Thanks SO much. Def my go-to highway intersection asset.

1500+ hours playing CS, and this is still the first asset I look for after a reinstall of the game (to speed things up). Thank You!

I love it! This is really Beast!

Thanks for this! Solved my heavy traffic problem in center of city. Added a walk path that goes under roundabout and over intersection. Previous roundabout was constantly deadlocked, this one gets only occasional backups which quickly clear.

Unbeatable. A true Beast. This is great ;)

I had a play with placing the entries on the opposite edge of the roundabout to the exits.

However, doing this obviously necessitates introduction of a shortcut for traffic heading to the 1st exit. (otherwise you have vehicles rapidly cutting their way through every lane of the roundabout)

Once you have such a shortcut, the roundabout's function is moot, as its only carrying traffic for the 3rd exit (and 4th exit u-turn).

To cut a long story short, the logical conclusion of making the aforementioned optimisations was this:

I've yet to test how much load it can carry (some of the slip lanes are a little sharp), but at a theoretical level it seems like the optimal solution for merging 2 equally balanced highways.

I have now reached a point though, where this intersection can't handle the traffic of my new district anymore. But I'm still impressed as the whole district was ONLY accessible via this interesection and it worked up until about 20000 citizens.

Now as there are 22000 citizens, there is so much traffic, that its getting congested because of cars trying to switch lanes. Time for another entrance into the district I guess.

... and thanks KiLL3r and Minister Kosh for your lovely comments also!

TehJumpingJawa thanks for the Idea. The first iteration of this design was very much trying to do something similar but I was having trouble getting the ramps such that the traffic would not slow down needlessly when joining or turning off. I will continue experimenting with it since it is a good idea, it is just a matter of getting the angles right. Thanks for the feedback!
TehJumpingJawa 18 Mar, 2015 @ 5:30pm
Have you experimented with feeding cars into .... (choosing words carefully here to avoid confusion caused by differences in US & UK terminology)....the 3rd lane of the roundabout, rather than the 1st?

Theory being:
- it'd minimize weaving (traffic joining the roundabout having to filter into traffic that's about to leave the roundabout)
- it'd encourage the lane pathing to make fuller use of all 3 lanes of the roundabout.

Very nice intersection with a well deserved name! Used this on my busiest highway intersection and so far no problems at all. Thanks!
frostedjune  [author] 18 Mar, 2015 @ 1:51am
Thanks for the feedback pmumberson. While it is true these big intersections don't work on all terrain I have tried my best to minimize that issue on this design. I can't tell if you are referring specifically to this asset in your comment, or custom assets in general. I myself have experienced that problem with downloaded custom intersections so I did test to make sure it would be rare that terrain would be too steep for this on the default maps.

You can never get anything this perfect in the game terrain though and I can never find enough flat land to use these assets

Love this! Works really well

Just using the curve tool with careful measuring and 90 degree angles hipster.

Glad to hear it helped Lee! Thanks for the comment.

How do you get the perfect circles D:

Thank you for this wonderful roundabout, this solved a big traffic problem in my city, great work!
