I can't elaberate more i tried my best to help but i have no knollage of 3ds max maybe thigs there are different.
When I sink it, it has a flooded icon ;)

I have one problem though. You're all making the model free standing, which means when you plop it, the model sits on top of the water and not in it. You need to lower the model into the ground plane of the modelling program you use so that when plopped, you won't see the base of the model.
