Checked the code and saw it digs up to hardness 500 where the normal Auto Excavator only digs up to hardness 250. Is it to be able to clear T4 ore that is 450 or is it for Fuild Magma that is 500?
I have tested and used it a fair amount already to ensure no bugs.
Added new mode "ClearCryo" because once you battle one cryo spawner, 7 more is just too many. This mode ONLY clears cryo (and...uh maybe resin) and leaves everything else and costs 3 times more power then the power-per-ore setting which is 80 by default. So 240 power per block.
Due to this potential increase in power consumption, the default power stored in the block is now 1600.
Also added ALT key modifiers to radius and height adjustments allowing for +/- 100 increments.
I might be able to get the hot-keys for functions to be mapped via config if people still want that.
I noticed the GUI doesn't update in a dedicated server, it just stays at 0%
I spent like 30 minutes trying to get it to start digging before realizing it had been digging beneath my cosmetic floor the whole time
The ability to dig down is so good.
It would be nice to be able to turn off the visible area once you have set it up especially when clearing one large area.
It has an option to hide the selected area, could this funtionality be built into the mod?
It would be a nice addition to a great mod.
Clear all i assumed was or plus garbage, i just red that clear ore does ore plus garbage.
Lesson learned i guess :P
Mistake was totally on me. I'd never used it near a hive before. The mod works amazingly. Nice job adding the different directions. Helps a ton.
I know I have a special catch in there to NOT take out that block.
Now I have a nice square hole and no hive. Not complaining. It dug a beautiful hole.
So lets assume the entire volume is full of blocks, ie no air. That's 2049x2049x2048 blocks, or 8,598,325,248 total blocks.
Overclocked can take 20 bpt = 429,916,262 ticks = 85,983,252 seconds = 1,433,054 minutes = 23,884 hours = 995 days = 2.73 YEARS to clear the volume if the game runs 24/7 year round.
I think the max radius and height are just fine.
One could argue that instead of one machine doing 20 blocks per tick, use 4 machines to achieve the same goal, the logistics are the same.
I'm just looking for is a way to get the overclock setting to follow the XML power-per-block rules. My overclock setting is maxed at 20 blocks per tick, and my power-per-block setting is 200 (10 ppb x 20 blocks per tick). Can you reconfigure the overclock to follow the XML rules? It'd be nice to have to feed 1000 pps (or more/less) into the excavator for it to run at full speed, as an added challenge.
2. Those are in there for game-performance reasons. Setting these values too high will cause the game to even more constantly swap out the loaded segments. Also, even with overclocking on, extreme values in either of these directions would take the machine weeks of real time to complete the task. Need a bigger volume? Use more than one excavator.
3. In addition to #2 covering this, included in why is this isn't a good idea is on dedicated servers. Overclocking the excavator would, quite simply, be too much for the server to keep up with and thus cause HUGE issues.
I understand there is a bug with overclocking and resetting width/height. But overclocking mode is not meant for HUGE jobs as the drain on the game is quite substantial. Place block, set options, add power. XML config is there if you need to use the same options many many times; like clearing the cold caves.
1. Can you add the ability to use Ctrl to increase height or radius by 100?
2. Can you remove the restrictions on the XML config? There are times when I want to change the excavator settings to above the maximum, but I am unable to do so.
3. Can you remove the overclock and make it the default excavator behavior? The overclock feature doesn't use the XML settings in the mod folder. The excavator also doesn't rescan for blocks when an excavator setting (height, radius, etc.) is changed while overclock is active. It would be nice if all of the XML settings (including the blocks per tick setting) affected the core Mk2 Excavator.
If it helps for figuring things out, the only mods I have are one's from you and tricky I think, that one for the hoppers? Would it help if I made a mod list or something?
