Considering wells can't be put into gravships now, can I make a suggestion to have some sort of gravship only way to extend a temporary series of pipes FROM the ship to draw water from a non-space biome?

I don't really like having to build a well and pump every single time I land.
Amazing mod. But was kinda dissapointed that my pawns dont use vanilla hotspring to clean. Or even use them at all.

Hello, first of all, I want to say I love your mods! They make the game so much more lively! But there's one thing that really bothers my inner monk... that you can't rotate the water tubs... maybe a little suggestion for the future? XD

I think what the mod needs is a water-recycling module so that you dont need wells on your gravship.

Agree with the wells, it being some sort of autodrill was exactly what's in my headcanon. Just make a gravship placable well that uses electricity or w/e.

Very nice to see the active development and all the space features.

What are the plans or thoughts on a closed water system though? There are bunch of other water using objects besides showers and sinks, most prominently hydroponics and such. In SOS2 we had the life support system which simulated the closed loop fine although it skipped the question of where the initial water came from.

@Dan After further investigation it seems to happen only when washing prisoners, not when washing self.

Really sad gravship wells were taken away.

"wells aren't supposed to be able to fly away, it doesn't make sense that a hole in the ground can fly into space"

Dub my colony leader is a psychic who can wield seven different schools of magic, we have frost giants with jetpacks wielding giant hammers, I have a giant insectoid queen in a tube supplying my flying death cathedral with energy and we're keeping a metalhorror host in a cryptosleep casket as a joke, and half of my colony's adult population was born yesterday as a litter and are now in their mid-twenties.

I think we can handwave away my ship having some neat little well drills on the underbelly brother
Dan 19 hours ago
You gotta wash your butt first @Turambar ...
Thats weird though. I skip those and use towers right out the gate so I've never seen that behavior myself.
Turambar 19 hours ago
When there are water tub near on the map and water butts very far, pawns choose the butts to wash. Any way to change this behaviour?

Objects need their airtightness stats updated (for example, walk-in freezer)
Montieth 19 Jul @ 12:57pm
I am loving the 1.6 specific additions. Very nice surprise in the water tank too!

I feel like I'm playing Kerbal Space Program with Rimworld now!

Three feature requests for space work if possible Professor Dub...

1. A sewage tank that's more ship tank like...
2. A converter that will slowly convert fecal sludge from the sewage tank to chemfuel
3. A Way to shift water from one tank to another....if one builds a space platform, being able to shift water on supply runs from the surface with the ship would be nice...

Thanks for the hard work and ways to keep the Kerbal Pawns clean!

I notice that when I regenerate the ice grid on an asteroid, any floor or wall that has been smoothed in the meantime is left ice-free in the new grid. That *feels* like a bug? I would like to smooth every enclosed room in my base eventually, but with the current state of things even just properly electrifying the premises is going to reduce the ice mining potential by quite a bit.
Xilandar 19 Jul @ 5:54am
Why there are X-marks everytime pawns are taking shower?
Ikswotok 19 Jul @ 4:06am
How about a drill well? Basically a well that functions like a deep drill, and has a chance to spawn insects around the ship. You could have a site on the ship to drill for water after landing.
Dubwise  [author] 19 Jul @ 3:09am
no only a drain tank option, i have transfer modes in Rimefeller though so i'll be copying that over to Hygiene
Drunken Eagle 19 Jul @ 3:05am
Is there a way to offload water from your gravship to your asteroid base? For example, If I want to use my ship as a water mule and transfer water to my colony/asteroid base that I got somewhere else.
Dubwise  [author] 19 Jul @ 3:02am
i already added vacuum toilets and water recycling, if you dont have them force steam to update the mod by unsubbing and resubbing
Dubwise  [author] 19 Jul @ 3:02am
wells aren't supposed to be able to fly away, it doesn't make sense that a hole in the ground can fly into space
Dubwise  [author] 19 Jul @ 3:00am
i added hidden pipes and removed pipe visibility options
wkgu 19 Jul @ 2:14am
@Dubwise can washing machine use water recycle system also?
Dan 18 Jul @ 10:30pm
@hue sinks and showers are already 100% recycled with the new tech Dub added in the 1.6 updates. Toilets only take water if you use the regular ones for sewage. Vactoilets don't use anything and eject into space so no sludge/sewage. Thirst would be your only usage I guess? Never messed with that mechanic myself.
Huehuecóyotl 18 Jul @ 9:41pm
As far as water in space, I had an idea that (while not entirely realistic) you could build a "Fluid re-processor" or something along those lines that links to pawn beds, and slowly generates free water when pawns are asleep. I imagine that it wouldn't give a surplus of water, just an offset, so you'd still need to land and refill your tanks occasionally.

That or add non-water sources of cleanliness, like "sonic vibration showers", "Dry cleaning stations", and "Vacuum toilets" that just eject waste into space. Pawns might not be so happy with these, so you could still opt for luxury and deal with the infrastructure of maintaining a water network in your ship but they'd offer a solution for the tight quarters and limited water situation of atmospheric flight.
Draylynn 18 Jul @ 5:54pm
@D33pblue13 yep, all my pipes are free and breezy, previously built and newly built. Option for changing their visibility in the configs appears to have wandered off.
hjärtekrossad 18 Jul @ 5:46pm
This has been one of my favorite mods of all time for rim world but im pretty sad to see that you can no longer place wells on your ships. Is there any way to fix this.
D33pblue13 18 Jul @ 4:51pm
Is anyone else also finding all of the previously built pipes displaying above floors now?
Dan 18 Jul @ 3:14pm
@Dub I didn't force everything to be minified, it was an option due to a mod so I was checking if it was intended that it carried heat. No concern there. Figured that was the case. Would you be against a well that could be picked up and replaced? Maybe some sort of "Deployable gravwell" Or something that takes some advanced components?
Phayah 18 Jul @ 3:03pm
All better. Thanks!
Dubwise  [author] 18 Jul @ 2:52pm
Pushed an update.
Fix for pawns that have no mood need throwing errors.
Increased speed of ingesting water bottles
Increased chance of a pawn drinking a water bottle immediately after eating
Fix for buildings getting pipe and water tank components that shouldn't with Lite mode turned on.
Fixed vacuum toilet error with Lite mode turned on
Dubwise  [author] 18 Jul @ 2:40pm
i already pushed the fix for <canConstructInCorner>true</canConstructInCorner>

if its still doing it unsub and sub again to force steam to update.

not everything should be minified, only minify things that are designed to be minified, if you're going to force everything to be minified then its at your own risk.

thirst and lite mode can be enabled in the mod settings
Dan 18 Jul @ 2:22pm
@Phayah bug with corners, remove a wall and replace.
Phayah 18 Jul @ 2:14pm
I'm not sure if this is intended, but I'm not able to run air-con pipes (hidden or normal) under an intersection of 4 walls - says "no path."
Dan 18 Jul @ 1:36pm
@immortal basically you'd use vac toilets, the water recycler for sinks and showers, and fill the tanks up once on the ground. You won't get any waste solids though.
Dan 18 Jul @ 12:01pm
@valent how did you manage a deep well on your structure? I cannot place them on ship structure on my current save. I don't think that is intended much like my minifying the cryo version below.
immortalartisan 18 Jul @ 11:14am
Seriously what am I supposed to about water if I live on a orbital platform? there isn't a way to drain water tanks to others in a network and even if I changed my grav ship entirely to a water transport I would have no method of emptying it so the station itself would have its own water storage while the grav ship is out refilling?
stinkyFerret 18 Jul @ 10:51am
How can I add the thirst from lite into this mod too?
valentijn78 18 Jul @ 5:39am
@Whim
With a well and a deep well built next to each other on my ship structure, I always land on accessible water. No need to rebuild.
Ckomi 18 Jul @ 2:06am
the ownership of a bathroom is not preserved when you jump with the gravship. (the link to a bed)
Dan 17 Jul @ 11:15pm
So anyone else notice the cryominer generating heat in storage if you minify it? I'm guessing we're not supposed to be doing that by default?
stinkyFerret 17 Jul @ 10:39pm
@dubwise u should make it so that the sewage comes out the dump port whenever ur on land
Whim 17 Jul @ 10:30pm
@Dubwise I'm currently playing exactly the way you suggested: one large water tank that gets refilled every time I land by building a well and a pump at the edge of my ship. And I have to say, it's really fun to play that way!

The only slightly annoying thing is that I can uninstall the pump, but I always have to rebuild the well from scratch. Would it maybe be possible to add a version of the well (maybe unlocked through research) that can also be uninstalled? In theory, I could just use MinifyEverything, but it would be nice not to have to add an entire extra mod just for that one feature.

Other than that, keep up the great work — I can’t imagine playing a run anymore without being forced to go to the toilet! :)
gh0stashes 17 Jul @ 8:45pm
@Ygdrad the towel rail is like the fixture in most european homes that heats your bathroom. It's basically a radiator that can warm towels.

It would be cool if it could remove 'soaking wet' but I haven't seen it do so
immortalartisan 17 Jul @ 8:06pm
...so question what are orbital platform supposed to do about sourcing water?
Ygdrad 17 Jul @ 8:02pm
Just found this mod while searching for something else. Is the towel rail functional? Can it dry colonists/remove the "soaking wet" negative moodlet? Colonists going for a swim for recreation and then being mad about it is something I want to fix badly :P
MY CABAGES 17 Jul @ 7:04pm
I just had a save where I was able to place the water well in my ship, now all of a sudden I cant. Is this something that was changed? It was really cool, but now my new save is going to be awkward.
Dubwise  [author] 17 Jul @ 5:18pm
you can also just use a basic latrine and a bucket and cut down a tree to make a primitive well, or jump along river systems
Frazzled 17 Jul @ 4:49pm
Got it. So keep a bunch of steel on hand to build a well every place I land. Kind of a pain if you're jumping once a quadrum, but not unreasonable. Thanks!
Dubwise  [author] 17 Jul @ 4:04pm
you should start with basic plumbing, you can just build a water butt, a small pump, then build pipe to the edge of the platform, then on landing build a well and pipe to it, there's likely to be shallow water near the ship, you get all the vac toilets and stuff from orbital tech research
Frazzled 17 Jul @ 3:26pm
Love the mod, have been using it forever, though with the new updates I'm a little confused as to what I'm supposed to do to get water on the gravship. I'm on a gravship start, certainly not in space yet (and don't have research for the new space toilets and stuff) how am I supposed to get water on my ship? Am I supposed to build a well somewhere outside the ship every jump? Is there no way to manually bucket water into your tanks from a river or something?
Morrneyo 17 Jul @ 3:19pm
Can I make deep water artificially using developer mod? From what I've found there is only 'regen water grid' thing?
[ACHR] Warner 17 Jul @ 3:01pm
@Mr. Perkins I just finished running my own set of tests because they are not showing up even when its just vanilla+DLC, harmony, DBH. So I had a friend load it on their PC and steamdeck, and had another friend load it on their PC and the new buldings are missing from everything except the steamdeck. But when the first friend tried using my full load order on PC they suddenly had them. Very strange behavior Q_Q
