Leaders, Faction, Unit, Provincial & Settlement renames
  • Anatolia: Especially the Anatolian settlements have been atrocious, put my book library to use fixing some of the mess. Seems most in-game settlements correspond to an google maps location, but often may be too modern for a bronze age settlement. Correct place names, but in wrong location. I have tried to clean as much of that up as possible for Anatolia.

As for the are from Phrygia to North Anatolia, the area either has clearly too modern names in vanilla (example in a language not spoken there until much later) or correct names, but no way of knowing if their the right or wrong ones. Many of these I've replaced with plausible, known Hittite/Luwian names, that are from this area, but may not be the exact settlement it's placed on. I think this is better than culturally wrong names.

While in East Anatolia, there's settlements which are referenced in historical sources, but we don't know where the actual locations are, CA's guess is as good as any in this respect.

  • Canaan: Originally based on the Israel mod, though have evolved a bit now. Israel as an example is now Ysriar.

  • Greece: Redid parts of Greece, synchronized some of the spelling and corrected a few place names. With some faction names from Renu Ma'a.

  • Mesopotamia: The situation here in vanilla seems a lot better than though some settlements seem a bit off, which I fixed. Mostly harmonized the names of Akkadian lands to Akkadian names.

  • Egypt: Most the place-names are researched by Hori and from his mod. Much of Hori's work can also be found in Greece and elsewhere, but just not to the same extent :)
However, the western desert locations, I found a research paper with with Ancient Tamazight names I decided to use. The paper was very vague on their locations, so their probably in the wrong places, while names are correct. Done for immersion into Libu.

  • There are a pool of new names introduced. Such as Schytians and Hayasa will spawn in 'rare' cases now among the Hittite pool. Overall there are more names added to existing cultures, together numbering a few hundreds.

  • Unit renames: I've started to introduce native names for units. This is for Atmospheric reasons, Playing as Suppiluliuma should feel like playing a Hittite.

Atm I'm pretty sure I got the Hittite names down, I studied real hard to learn Hittite. Though the Greek ones, I'm not as sure about and if I get around to learning Mycenaean Greek I might turn a part of them into that. As to the Akkadian ones I'm pretty unsure about, I think their somewhat correct

As for anyone wanting more languages represented, say like Luwian, Meroitic, Elamite and so forth, I encourage you to make those as sub mods if you really want them. I have a limited capacity to do everything. :)

Credit for 90+% of the Egyptian language names goes to Hori, the maker of Renu Ma'a.

  • 'Hero' rename:
Many world leaders, characters are renamed too. Many are Historical additions over generic ahistorical CA names, some are mythical and some are plausible reconstructions. All considered better than the vanilla imo. Memnon (Greek name) is replaced by an plausible Kushite ruler name which is made up or or Priam's (Pariamuas) son Helenos being Tiwazdamas an approximate plausible reconstruction akin to Alexander-Paris (Parizitis). While Malidiya has an historical character and Alep have an historical Hittite ruler from an cadet bracnh related to the dynasty. Then many of the Nomal rulers of Egypt are from Ramesses the Great's youngest known sons, historical people, but only plausible as nomal figures. While Mesopotamia has many approximates or historical rulers. And so on.

Made up, reconstructions:
Not every in-game place has an known name from Bronze age, name that makes sense in the in-game context or bronze age spelling. Majority of them are Linear B related, re-spelling the classical names in Linear B style with typical bronze age type of tradition. Their technically reconstruction and thus plausible to be what they actually were in the Bronze age.

These Peroponaso provincial names are reconstructions by Hori, who didn't like my original solution. Basically, Linear B reconstruction of North and South Peloponese
