Post bugs in this thread or even better on GitHub[github.com]

Keep in mind that if you were using semi-official, you might wanna try to reset vrmod settings. Also before submitting bug report test it without addons.

Remember that this addon already contains interactive buttons, hand physics, manual pickup and melee.

Vrmod crashes on start
I've had this issue for the longest time where it stands still and crashes the second I put on the headset. It likewise crashes after a longer while without the headset. This is the same for all versions of VRmod.

I turned off theater mode on steamvr, I tried multiple ways to turn on vr like it says on the original FAQ, but it always crashes.

I have a psvr2 headset, so idk if that might be the cause. Plz help!

Honestly I have no idea where to begin to determine what's the cause of the issue,as there is not much to go from.
Only vrmod crashes? Not the game itself? Anything in the console?


From what I've gathered psvr connects to pc via adapter directly to the GPU, so probably does rely on steamvr for rendering, correct me if I am wrong.


I would start by lowering steamvr resolution and disabling all the other mods in gmod.

I factory reset gmod, with zero addons but this. The whole game crashes btw

Try get console logs

Garry's Mod (GMod) crash logs can be found in different locations depending on your operating system.

Windows
Main Crash Logs

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Temp\
Look for a file named hl2_*.mdmp or gmod_crash_*.log
Console Logs & Errors

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\console.log
You may need to enable logging using con_logfile console.log in the in-game console.
Additional Logs (If you use a launch parameter)

Run GMod with -condebug
Logs will be saved in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\console.log

Linux
Main Crash Dumps

This is what I found in the console log in the sub folder. I tried opening it once without a vrset hooked up and another time with it.

oof, seems like something failing on the backend side , which means driver incompatibility most likely. Did you ever tried HL2 VR? They share similar backend I believe.

Also try to disable multi core rendering in video settings

Hl2vr works perfectly, idk why gmod doesnt. How can I deal with driver incompatibility? Can I download the compatible drivers? I did try it now with multicore off, still crashed :/

It would be much easier if I had a device as I am just guesstimating the probable causes.
But I don't neither do I use windows, so if you really want to get it fixed, you need to research the problem if somebody else in the same situation and try to get to the bottom of this.

Don't want to be demotivating but it tool me about 6 months to fix rendering issues on Linux. :D

Best I can do to helps is to provide hints and guidance if you are determined enough.

For starters use ChatGpt, feed it the source code of the backend

and instruct it to modify it in a way so it would produce a log and compile it , so we can debug it further

What is Bazzite? Have u tried anything to fix it
bazzite is a gaming based distro running off fedora, and i managed to get it working off alvr
