Glory of Weapon Trails

Description
Welcome!

Once lost to time, this mod has risen back to the light.

Hello everyone,

This is the 'Weapon Trails' variant of the Glory of Combat mod.

What the Mod Changes

Glory of Combat re-balances the combat system through hundreds of adjustments to attack animations and combo sequences, as well as damage + stamina cost multipliers. A number of aesthetic changes have been made as well, including to sound effects and weapon trails.

I would encourage you to read the description of the main mod or the documentation guide I have provided here for more information.

The main version of the mod uses colorless 'air-cutting' weapon trail effects uniformly across all attacks of all weapon types. However, throughout the years many players have asked for a version of the mod with the bright, colorful streaks of death they had become accustomed to, so here we are.

The Effects

Bleed, Cripple, and Sunder visual effects have returned to their relevant attacks, and regular attacks now use either the standard 'air-cutting' effect or the Heavy trail effect depending on weapon type and animation.

Because some attacks inflict multiple status effects, a hierarchy of appearance has been set up. Bleed effects will take precedent, followed by Sunder effects, followed last by Cripple effects.

For now, attacks with a shield will not have weapon trail effects applied. Special weapons that apply status effects with each hit will still use the weapon trail setup of their base weapon type.

Mod Compatibility

This version of the mod is standalone, as it includes all changes made by the main mod in addition to the weapon trail adjustments. It's not recommended to use this mod alongside the base version of Glory of Combat, but there shouldn't be any major issues from doing so.

Known incompatible mods will be listed in Discussions as they are reported.

If, for one reason or another, you do not like what I did with a particular weapon, it is possible to override that portion of my mod with another. You must ensure that the other mod is lower in the load order than mine for their changes to appear. Double check when you move mods around in the load order.

The mod may be added to or removed from an existing playthrough without issue.

Conclusion

Thank you all for reading,

is this the main mod? Or do you need something else besides it?

Hello everyone,

A very small update, 1.30, has been released. Its only change was a reversion of the name back to the original, in remembrance of the 5th anniversary of the main mod's release.

Hello everyone,

I'm interested to know how you guys feel about the stamina regarding the mod. The cost of attacks, how the flow of combat is with the newer regeneration values, things like that.

I'm planning on running a new playthrough in the coming days, which will provide me with more feedback on how to make improvements, but it would be good to get more perspectives.

Thank you,

Dread Swoop

Update 1.29.2 has been released. As always, check the Change Notes section for full details. Here's a brief summary:

* Stamina cost multipliers for the Bow Heavy shot and Offhand dodge were decreased significantly. Using Bows should now be a less-painful experience.

* The Offhand dodge for Daggers had its stamina cost multiplier reduced slightly as well for parity with the Bow dodge.

Let me know if you have any issues, and I hope you enjoy.

After giving it a look, I will be reducing the stamina costs for Bow Heavy shots as well as the pseudo-dodge. I haven't finalized the changes yet, but I think it will be ~50% reduction for both.

I think the current Light cost of ~10 stamina isn't prohibitive, so that will be staying as it is.

I'll put out another update tomorrow (my time) which should bring those costs down to acceptable levels.

Thanks for reading,

haha of course. That is why mauls would have blue streaks, and daggers red. haha Those color schemes went over my head. Just like Drax the Destroyer. ha
