If a group of passionate modders and skin artists (me and some friends) start reworking some of your older mods, are you cool with that?
You appear to be busy with other projects these days, and we love these mods you made and don't want them to be neglected, but we don't want to act like spoiled children and make you do all the hard work. We're happy to put in a little effort of our own.
Right now I have a particular interest in rebuilding the MiG-29, MiG-21, Su-27, Su-30, and Eurofighter all to be reworked with Firewill weapons and updated skins. I *could* just make a mod of your mod and use your mod as a dependency, but this also means A LOT of redundant content and in-game objects, especially weapons. We tried to do it this way and it's just a total nightmare with lots of pointless extra work.
If you gave us permission to upload, it would make things a hell of a lot easier. We want to start with your models, but make our own skins and code for it. If you granted us permission to do this, you'd also be welcome to copy our work back to your own mods as you saw fit.
If I don't hear from you, I'll just assume that it's not okay to do this, and so we'll just never release our mod. That would be disappointing, but I guess that's how the ArmA 3 modding community is. Folks tend to be very protective about their work, for better or worse.
Hey Pook, are you still in touch with Pinaz? He used to have a MiG-29 and Eurofighter mod that used Firewill's AWS, but these mods have since vanished off the workshop. My understanding is the Eurofighter model was yours, and possibly also the MiG-29.
I still have those old mods saved, and although both had their share of bugs, and the skins could have been better, they were still fun as they were, and so I now have a group of coders and skin artists who want to breathe new life into these old mods.
However, we're not just going to reupload the old mods as they were. One, because we can make them better, and two, because I'm not going to just steal assets even if we claim to be improving them. The whole point of me asking about this is so maybe I could get permission to modify things. Mind you, this isn't just some half-assed mod repack for a private clan server. This is meant to be for everyone. I want to do is remix your work and reupload it as something you'd enjoy.
I have a question about the model / skin. If you look at the Eurofighter from the side you see a strange line that also has a very low resolution will that be fixed at some point?
Also this is not only mod they are using that is comming from you.
But thanks anyway
Since I really want to add more Anti-Air to my KAF mod and not only have the ZSU-23-4
Thanks in advance
help?
it keeps crashing at the end of the runway
Is there a specific question of just wanting to know about things in general?
I tested it by building a simple mission. Player is the EF-2000 and there is another airborn fighter jet that is airborn beyond visual range. I take off, face the direction of the enemy Jet, turn on the radar and can't detect it, although the radar appears to be on. I can only get a lock within visual range, on the other fighter's tail. I did this before your last update and got a good lock right away (with all other mods installed...). I also switch the EF-2000 to another plane in the same mission (i.e. Firewills F15C) and have no problem locking beyond visual range.
Thanks for taking the time!
In other news, I'm updating all the weapon configs so they will perform better :)
