I don't like obstacles that instantly kill the player in any game tbh.
Invalidates having a health bar in the first place if the only time I die its because of an insta kill death trap.
Badger  [author] 2 May @ 5:06pm
@Pan the Sylveon To be clear i wrote all that stuff about "skill" as a joke, i know platforming isn't really that difficult, even with this mod. But i guess the idea of platforming decisions had a lot to do with padding the length of the game more than anything else. I've seen a lot of players breeze through jumping sections, and even have the enemies spawn on top of the player because they simply move more faster than the original devs designed the game for. I remember throwing my controller and being emotionally defeated the first times i ever played Turok, and believe me dying and losing your progress is a horrible feeling. But that caused me to get better, and appreciate the game in the first place.
Pan the Sylveon 27 Apr @ 1:35pm
Its cool that you care to preserve the original way the game was supposed to be played but platforming sections in FPS games will always be a waste of time and effort.
If you want to challenge the player, do it via enemy encounters or anything that is actually based around the reason people buy and play FPS games in the first place.
Platforming is always a snoozefest. Its a chore. There is nothing exciting about platforming in a shooter.
"Wow, you can move to the very edge of the platform and press the jump key!! That's so much skill!! I can't believe these filthy kids don't appreciate the skill expression!!"

I'd find more mental stimulation in doing trivial house chores than playing through a platforming section within a shooter.

But if I move slower then I platform better, thank you mister mod man I could never beat this game before, you've saved me :demoticon:
TAMIKU ! 26 Mar @ 2:57pm
its funny to be fast with the knife :( u can back stab
StrayHALO_MAN 13 Mar @ 4:20pm
When I want to play the N64 version version I just boot up my modded original Xbox and play it with a Series X controller on a 65 inch 4K OLED for the maximum cursed Turok experience.
Green Skeleton 11 Feb @ 2:44am
Not a mod for me but I imagine there are people who could get something out of it. The hate seems strange but I think people are just desperate for any mod for Turok so will complain about ones not meant for them.
Badger  [author] 4 Jan @ 6:10pm
@ big guapo I'm going to keep this one comment of yours up. You, and solely you, have been coming back to a mod page of an obscure game all of 2024 typing all kinds of nonsense. I deleted your nasty comments because they have nothing to do with the mod itself, just disparaging remarks towards me, and I have every right to do so, it's my page after all.

Again, it's just you who's been making constant, consistent comments every couple of months, and I find it eye-opening you decided to spend the day before New Years to manually find this mod to hate comment, which clues me in that you don't really have a good home life.

You. need. mental. help. Your pettiness is abnormal, you know that right?

I don't "fear" you, I just don't want to give my time to stalkers like you. there's a stark difference.
big guapo 30 Dec, 2024 @ 1:23pm
That comment number would be literally insane if he didnt schizophrenically spend the kind of time he does deleting comments of people frying him. Keep hiding from me you coward, you aint getting rid of me

Turok 1,2, and 3 have had their animation speeds increased in some way or another due to going from around 25 fps to 60 fps. I doubt you'll find information of it now, I think I first heard the 1.25x figure on a Turok discord server. I eyeballed the feel of the movement speed on emulator and it came close to that figure.
Agent A38 26 Nov, 2024 @ 12:05pm
Was the movement speed actually changed in the remaster? Asking because i couldn't find any information on this.
Morrigan 23 Sep, 2024 @ 1:09pm
Thanks for the mod !
HALO_run 27 Apr, 2024 @ 9:44pm
i did remember the walk never knew it did that handy to know thanks for the info :D
Badger  [author] 27 Apr, 2024 @ 9:23pm
@HALO_run That's the walk button, which is unfortunately not present. Fun fact: It affected enemy aggro distance to some extent, meaning it had potential as a stealth feature.
HALO_run 23 Apr, 2024 @ 4:41am
if i remember right they removed going slower
Badger  [author] 4 Apr, 2024 @ 1:51am
@Raven Your welcome :)
@Merci You should try it before you knock it, it makes your playthrough much more immersing.
Merci 3 Apr, 2024 @ 6:24pm
hey so, your free to do whatever, but an fov of less than 70 is fucking disgusting.
♥Raven-Purple♥ 29 Mar, 2024 @ 9:54am
I love this thanks
Badger  [author] 29 Mar, 2024 @ 3:19am
@MrLightCoffee I get it, the mod's really not for everyone, only for mega fans of the game.
MrLightCoffee 28 Mar, 2024 @ 5:51am
Sorry but this game just feels slow and second rate compared to it's pc contemporaries like Unreal and Quake. I'd speed this game up even more if I could lol.

@AlternateKeK Yeah, I'm aware of the morons ruining gaming, luckily I think a lot of people have had enough nowadays and it's easier to call them out on their BS.

@Macrocosom I don't entirely blame newer gamers for their lack of expertise, they have an uphill battle to prove themselves in a world that shamelessly hates on them. It's just that the industry feels obligated to make video games not challenging, and some fall into the trap of not wanting to test their limits because of that.

@Thunder Oh wow, Metal Gear Solid!
Sheik Yerbouti 21 Mar, 2024 @ 10:27am
Were you born in 2017 or something
Macrocosom 17 Mar, 2024 @ 8:07pm
wow didnt take long for the skill issues to make themselves known, and they try to call you triggered lmfao , nice mod bro im always for the challenge :bigjohn:
AlternateKeK 12 Mar, 2024 @ 9:20pm
Crazy there are people causing a scene in the comments going "wow cringe" these are the same kind of people who think Saints Row 4 is good. People who act like this most likely read kotaku and hang out in LGBT discords trying to gatekeep mods. This is exactly what I want because I thought the boost to speed was UNCALLED for, if babies want to cry in the comments let them. They don't speak for ANYONE besides a SMALL minority of WEIRDOS who read Kotaku and most likely support Sweet Baby Inc. Yes I went there because lately I am sick of these weirdos trying to gatekeep mods!
DOOM 23 Feb, 2024 @ 11:20am
lol what a crybaby XD.
this game is so easy anyway.
so they gave us some quality of life improvements
Wooooooooooooooooow 4 Jan, 2024 @ 11:23am

Badger  [author] 15 Dec, 2023 @ 2:52pm
It's all good lmao. :UT2004health:
lord.riker 15 Dec, 2023 @ 11:46am
Oh shit, now that I've gotten some sleep I can see that it's a shitpost. My bad lmao. Merry Christmas to you too! Let's all be triggered together lol
Badger  [author] 14 Dec, 2023 @ 7:46pm
1.25x boost is more or less how it actually is via the script, so comparing with an emulator I tinkered with it until it was how I liked it. Also, I wrote that it's APPROXIMATELY like the N64, not exact, for this reason.

You say I'm crying, but i'm not the one writing paragraphs here, lol. Relax, it's a shitpost. Also, Merry Christmas.
lord.riker 14 Dec, 2023 @ 6:05pm
"This was done because gamers nowadays are bunch of crybabies lack the the skill and persistance necessary to perform the platforming sections, they want success to come to them easy."

I almost forgot this one. Triggered AF and flat out wrong lmao.
lord.riker 14 Dec, 2023 @ 5:51pm
"God don't mention Reddit, I hate those guys so much it makes my blood boil. They're the ones demanding game journalist easy modes! They also have rabies."

You are so triggered lol. Also, this is not even remotely true (except for the rabies haha). Nobody is making these kinds of demands. Games are being released these days that are FAR harder than when we were younger. There are also games being released that are FAR easier. The video game audience has increased drastically since the '80s and '90s, and as such the market has adapted to cater to that wide audience. If what you're claiming is true then we wouldn't have games like Elden Ring, Celeste, Cuphead, a million roguelikes, and so on.

Chill out, my dude. You're waging a war against nobody.
lord.riker 14 Dec, 2023 @ 5:50pm
"This mod's purpose is a demonstration that gaming has significantly taken on the mobile game/gambling approach of giving the player instant gratification with few losses as possible."

This sounds like a triggered baby to me. How, in any way, has the game taken on even a remotely "mobile game/gambling approach" or "giving the player instant gratification with few losses as possible?" Does the game have lootboxes? A battlepass? P2W? Did they remove hard mode? Or is this whining entirely because of your belief that they made you move a tiny bit faster? The only thing making this game easier than it was originally is the vastly improved controls.
lord.riker 14 Dec, 2023 @ 5:50pm
It kinda sounds like you're the triggered crybaby. It also kinda seems like you have an altered perception of reality.

"When the Turok Remaster was released, movement speed was increased by around 1.25x"

Where are you getting this information from? I spent the last 2 hours scouring the internet, watching comparison videos, reading dev interviews, etc and the only place I've seen this claim is this mod right here. The closest I could find was the fact that they increased the movement speed of Turok 2 by 20% to more closely match Turok 1.

I'm guessing you either saw this and didn't actually read it, saw that moving diagonally increases speed to 125% and didn't actually read that, or you forgot that there was a sprint button in the original that's been removed and sprint is always active.
Badger  [author] 9 Dec, 2023 @ 6:51am
Triggering the crybabies in the comments is well worth the cost of fake internet points. :horsearmor:

As for everyone else, thanks for checking out the mod.
Basic 7 Dec, 2023 @ 2:02am
Honestly, I thought the comments were being a bit too rough until I read the "this mod is a demonstration" part of the description, that part was just too funny. Anyways neat mod, I'll probably try it at some point.
FullMetalSnorlax 4 Dec, 2023 @ 6:33pm
posted cringe, lose subscribe
sno0ks 3 Dec, 2023 @ 10:56pm

Zetra3 2 Dec, 2023 @ 10:22pm
Neat idea, won't download or support cause your just an actual cringe lord.
Badger  [author] 2 Dec, 2023 @ 5:02pm
As for the side jump, unfortunately not. though it's an interesting idea, maybe a keybind mod could work...
Badger  [author] 2 Dec, 2023 @ 5:00pm
God don't mention Reddit, I hate those guys so much it makes my blood boil. They're the ones demanding game journalist easy modes! They also have rabies.
sonk 1 Dec, 2023 @ 3:47pm
Could've gone without this cringe reddit a55 description
E1M9 30 Nov, 2023 @ 8:08am
