Great mod, I really love playing on Legendary because of the campaign difficulty, but I am not amazing at micro. If I could, I would play on Legendary Campaign difficulty and Normal Battle difficulty. Sadly there is no such option, so this mod is perfect for me. This also means I can finally play the Chosokabe and actually rely on ranged units. Thank you so much for making this!

@Arthillidan The info about melee attack buff seems to come from some old dev interviews. But you are correct, there is nothing to really back this up. I have thought about removing the melee attack debuffs since a while now and will probably do so in an update.

At any rate, thanks for bringing this to my attention.

the AI does not get a melee attack buff, at least not a +6 melee buff at very hard. That's why people didn't notice they get a melee buff. it's really easy to test as well. just do custom games against the AI on the rice fields map. I did ashigaru vs ashigaru on vh (yari wall disabled). The AI seemed to have a slight edge that might be because of a combination of morale and RNG over small sample size. When I gave my ashigaru a single chevron they started clearly winning the combat, consistently having more men than the enemy unit, but would still be easier to rout becuase lower morale presumably. If the AI truly got +6 melee attack on vh, my ashigaru wouldn't be winning with a single chevron.

I can confirm that other battle difficulty buffs apply on custom battles as well, because when doing an archer duel between bow ashigaru, the AI shot a lot faster than me. I have literally no idea where Gamemnke got the melee attack buff from.

@Bug that is strange. I did not touch sounds in this mod at all. Have you tested that this is caused specifically by this mod? Because if it is, then i have no idea what causes it.
It would be great if you had some additional information for troubleshooting, as this kind of problem tends to be hard to narrow down

Unfortunately on Mac this disables all game audio (other than video) for some reason.

Thanks for the info, I will try to do that soonish.

Ah i see nice xd. Btw you can also rename the table (inside the folder) and then you can remove all the non changed items there.
Egalregent  [author] 21 Apr @ 12:50pm
Just pushed an update that removes to unnecessary tables. I just forgot to get rid of them and procrastinated up until now lol

Thanks! I see you found a workaround the hardcoded AI buffs, though looking at the mod files there's a lot tables that seem unnecessary? Like Uniforms_tables for example. Could you elaborate on that? Im very curios.

Okay., thanks for the answer! Will give this mod a go for my next campaign.

Everbody gets the same debuffs so it should still remain balanced. I played some campaigns with this and did not really notice a difference in this regard. Then again, thats just my experience with these changes. In Short: Probably yes, but not enough to make a real difference,

Does it affect AI vs AI battle autocalculations in the campaign?

For the longest time, I knew that the archers had combat modifiers, but I never noticed that melee infantry had the same. It seems like with all of the games pre-Rome II, the modifiers existed but usually weren't so overbearing that they couldn't be circumvented by good game sense. In any case, thanks for this.
